This collection was brought together over a forty year period and tomorrow I’ll be sharing gorgeous creations that come from the most famous milliner in American history, Lilly Daché. She made hats for just about every famous movie star from the golden era of Hollywood, including the fruity headdresses of Carmen Miranda and statement styles for Joan Crawford. She created styles for president’s wives as well as icons of the Fifties and Sixties, and tomorrow you are going to see and be able to purchase some extraordinary examples of the work from this legendary designer. If you loved styles that you saw in Mrs Maisel, then this is the sale for you!

It is a joy to me to have the opportunity to work on a hat collection like the one currently residing me but since I have such a large head (as befits the rest of my large person), it’s a bit frustrating - although probably a blessing - that most of them don’t fit me.

Very grateful to my friend Emily for being my hat model today and for showing off all these beautiful hats.

Such a beautiful and versatile set in gorgeous silk crepe. Two beautiful pieces that appear like a dress when worn together and with that fluted, bias cut hem on the skirt and the slim shirt, this has lots of late Thirties/ early Forties vibes.

The blouse has mother-of-pearl buttons, including on the cuffs, and the skirt has a side zipper.

Beautiful, Edwardian-style embroidered voile dress with cotton slip from the early Eighties . Excellent condition - no signs of wear

It really doesn’t come more romantic than this. This beautifully-made dress is such a gorgeous facsimile of a style from the early 1900s; the high, square neckline, the height at the head of the sleeve, the dropped waistline (which can be moved for comfort since it’s elasticated) and then all the detailed tucks and embroidery on the bodice. The fabric is exquisite and the cuffs are finished with two pearl buttons.

The cotton slip underneath is a versatile bonus.
Belt loops if you choose to wear a belt or sash.

This would make a gorgeous vintage wedding look for a romantic bride.

This totally epitomizes the glamour of Sixties fashion; a simple sheath-style dress in an incredible color but with a sparkling, sleeveless overlay on the bodice that emphasizes the bustline and the waist. The cascade, almost fountain-like embellishments give it gorgeous texture and then to crown that, hand-applied crystals to set the whole thing on fire. In case you can’t tell, I absolutely love this dress - it’s so fantastic and so fun.

The paper size tag is still attached inside and it doesn’t appear to have been worn. Someone did let the hem down (there is a feint line) and it would certainly be easy to return it to its original, go-go style length if you wanted. It is fully lined in a soft fabric that feels like a cotton blend.

Label says this is an XS but it easily works on my 34-28-36 mannequin and with the open, adjustable back, this could work on up to a 36 bust and 30 waist; the tassel ties allow you to adjust the waistline. Interior lining easily goes up to 40 hip.

A lovely consignment client of mine has brought a lot of very lovely, mostly new, boho style dresses to me and I’m going to be posting some of them in this group this evening.
They’re going for just a fraction of the original price and are mostly from Anthropologie and Free People - some are even still available online. She has the majority of her clothes dry cleaned before she wears them so they are new-without-tags.
