That Boat, Berwick upon Tweed. A wooden sculpture created using driftwood. This is another location I really wanted to visit, I couldn't decide which I liked best for most of these shots so there is a black and white edit too.
The Royal Boarder Bridge, Berwick upon Tweed. No visit to Berwick upon Tweed would be complete without seeing this amazing bit of architecture.
Berwick upon Tweed, I believe this is the Berwick rowing clubs building. There is no better feeling than having an explore of somewhere new.
Aurora part 3. The final image was captured as a panoramic as STEVE was dispersing. The display was so strong I ended up running around trying to grab the best compositions I could. Hopefully we get more great displays ๐ค
Aurora part 2. The first image shows a phenomenon that is known as STEVE (strong thermal emission velocity enhancement).
Thank you The Northern Echo.. Two of my images in two different local papers this week, not going to lie it's a nice feeling. Thank you all for your support..
I have only just realised I had not posted these on here. On the 05 Nov 2023 we were treated to a wonderful display of the aurora borialis. I had been receiving notifications of activity on my phone all day and hoped it would continue until dark. I had numerous locations picked out, one of which was Eggleston Abbey. So glad it paid off. As we approach solar maximum, hopefully, we get more displays like this. More images to follow, click on images to view in full..
Portrait version of the watchtower and the plough.
On my way back from the lighthouse I stumbled on this composition and could not resist the shot. The plough above an old watch tower.. I feel this would be a great shot with the aurora borialis making a display..
Berwick upon Tweed lighthouse. (I know how many pictures of a lighthouse do people actually want to see, think I got a little obsessed with getting a shot that didn't materialise)
I couldn't make my mind up about the second image, a lot of flare from the moon, undecided if I like it or not. What do you think?
Not to be put off later in the week I noticed another break in the clouds, again headed out to the lighthouse to capture the shot I had envisioned. Again a super bright moon and the green light of the lighthouse meant the shot didn't materialise, but I believe I still got some nice shots. More to follow, I promise these are the last few of the lighthouse.
Sorry more of Berwick-upon-Tweed lighthouse, i actually really like the flare of the green light in the second image
This is one of my favourite shots of Berwick-upon-Tweed lighthouse. I love the colour contrast between the warm light on the beach and lighthouse, compared to the cooler tones of the shadows.

Berwick upon Tweed lighthouse.
Berwick upon Tweed lighthouse. The following day we had a family walk to the end of the peir whilst the lighthouse was bathed in golden light.
Click on the images to view full. Once the cloud came and snuffed out the bright moon these were some of the better shots, personally I really like the black and white edit. Other than the light on the lighthouse you probably could not tell it was about 10 at night. With a failed attempt at some astro I returned again a few nights later. Images to follow. Which is you favourite edit?

As soon as our family holiday was booked to berwick I started planning a nightscape of berwick lighthouse. Even knowing that the moon was pretty much full and bright all night I noticed some gaps in the clouds that didn't last long. This image was very challenging to say the least, having to contend with a bright moon and the bright green light from the lighthouse. These were some of the test images, testing various compositions. Better images to follow as the clouds came in.
Sorry I have not posted in a little while, I have just returned from a family holiday to Northumberland. Needless to say I took my cameras with me, I now have a few hundred images to go through and will post them as soon as I can. Juggling a family holiday with my passion for photography was difficult but thanks to a very understanding wife i believe i managed to get a few decent shots. Again Thank you all for your continued support it truly means a lot.
