Nnamdi Kanu: We’re open to peaceful engagements if FG’s ready – IPOB
The Indigenous People of Biafra has said that its doors are opened for “meaningful” and “sincere” peaceful engagement with other nationalities and the Federal Government if, indeed, Nigeria is ready for such.
In a statement on Thursday, the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, never asked anybody to relax the freedom fight, but only advised Biafrans worldwide to embrace peace within the family.
The group also said, “Before we enter into any peaceful engagement with Nigeria, Nigeria must show us that it is favourably disposed towards peace.”
Without restructuring, 2023 elections may be disrupted - Nwodo
Speaking at the 14th Anthony Cardinal Okogie Foundation (ACOF) annual lecture themed, ‘Whither Nigeria: Restructuring, Secession or Status Quo’, organised by Knights of St. John International and Ladies Auxiliary (KSJI), Nwodo said restructuring is needed for the unity and development of the country.
He said the independence and post-independence constitution were anchored on regional differences, which gave each region a preference to develop along its revenue capability and needs.
He added that, sadly after the 1966 coup, the military created a unitary system for the country to suit its command structure.

He said this structure which should have been discarded was firmly established in the 1999 constitution.
Speaking further, Nwodo said Nigeria’s fundamental problem has remained so because the 1999 constitution is not a people-centred document, but a military imposition that gave the north undue advantages over other federating units in the country.
He said for the country to make progress, the military imposed constitution must be replaced with a more people-inclusive document.

“Our expectation now is that our president, will address the situation by constituting a nationwide conversation of all ethnic nationalities to look into the 2014 national conference report and other trending views on this subject matter so as to come up with a consensus proposal,” he said.
He said the present APC-led leadership and other political stakeholders must do all they can “to restructure before the next election in 2023, because the level of dissatisfaction in the country as evidenced by the last ENDSARS protest gives one the impression that any delay may lead to a mass boycott or disruption of the next elections to the point that we may have a more serious constitutional crisis of a nation without a government”.
South-East Won’t Leave Nigeria For You – Ezeife Tells Buhari
Former governor of Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Ezeife has said the Igbo speaking people won’t leave Nigeria because of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ezeife said Buhari had been trying to push the Igbos out of Nigeria, but they would not leave.
The elder statesman disclosed this while addressing reporters on Thursday night at a public presentation of three books on the revival of Igbo culture by the founder of a non-governmental organisation, Save Our Heritage Initiative (SOHI), Dame May Ikokwu.
He accused the President of being responsible for the political tension in the Southeast.
“We must be careful with ourselves, we Igbo people. If somebody is targeting to kill us, should we go and kill ourselves?
“Let us tell our people the truth: we are not leaving Nigeria tomorrow and those who know don’t even want to leave
“Are we leaving because of one man-Buhari? Before Buhari, were we being pushed out of Nigeria?
“I said Buhari has been pushing us out of Nigeria. Should we obey him?” Ezeife said.
Malami wants Tucano jets deployed to South-East – Ohanaeze raises alarm
The alarm followed a press conference by Malami where he chronicled security breaches allegedly carried out by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Ohanaeze has now described it as a latest attempt to justify the planned deployment of the fighter jets to the South-East zone where the IPOB is agitating for secession.
This was contained in a statement by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Secretary-General of the Chidi Ibeh-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
He said in the statement that “Malami is setting the stage for the justification for the deployment of the acquired Tucano Fighter Jets to the Southern part of Country.
“The Federal Government has concluded the strategies to use the Super Tucano Fighter Jets in the South-East.
The palace of the traditional ruler of the Etekwuru community in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State has been set ablaze by some yet-to-be identified hoodlums.
It was gathered that the attackers stormed the monarch’s palace with explosives and when they could not find the monarch or any member of his family, they set his house and properties which included his official vehicle on fire.
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has given the Federal government a November 4th deadline to release its leader, Nnamdi Kanu or risk a week-long lockdown in the entire Biafra land. The ultimatum was given in a statement by Media and Publicity Secretary for IPOB, Emma Powerful following the adjournment of Kanu’s court case to November 10th by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Briton Leads Biafra Protest To UK Parliament, Lambasts British Government For Ignoring Buhari’s Treatment Of Igbos
A Briton has led a protest to the United Kingdom Parliament to question Prime Minister Boris Johnson over his refusal to intervene in the perceived marginalisation of Igbo people in Nigeria.
In a video shared on Facebook, Briton who was flanked by people with Biafran flags alleged that the UK Prime minister is only after money and power.
He also demanded to know why the British government has kept mute over the alleged oppression, killing, kidnapping and molestation of Igbo people, especially their women by Fulani herdsmen all over Nigeria on a daily basis.
The man also urged the British Prime Minister to ensure the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu is immediately released as the latter is a British citizen.
He also stated that the United Kingdom government ought to have no relationship with the Nigerian government, which he described as “the most corrupt government on earth”.
He said: “Millions of Biafrans were slaughtered and starved to death by the British government, the British government starved over three million children between 1967 and 1970 and you sit behind those doors and you know what’s going on, exactly the same is going on now to innocent people and you’re covering all up because you don’t want the average person to know what’s going on.
“Children are being murdered, mothers are being r***d every single day in this Nigeria and you keep quiet. Catriona Laing, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, doesn’t give a damn. She continues to have meetings with the Fulani regime killing his people.
“You don’t give a damn about innocent people killed every single day and you have one person who tries to free his people, he’s held in detention illegally, he’s a British citizen. Why do we not hear about that?
I thought we cared about these people. You don’t give a damn, you don’t give a damn because money is everything, money and power is everything. People talk about third world governments being corrupt, this one is the most corrupt government on earth
Some Countries Aiding Nnamdi Kanu Against Nigeria - Says FG
The Federal Government, on Friday, alleged that some countries are aiding the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, who made the allegation while briefing journalists, insisted that some state actors aided Kanu after he escaped from the country.
“We have also established that Kanu is not alone in his subversive activities. He has accomplices in Nigeria and abroad, individuals and groups as well as state and non-state actors who are aiding and facilitating his campaign against the people and state of Nigeria.
“Some of the state actors aided Kanu, even as a fugitive, in his destructive mission, ignoring the terrorist nature of his activities.
“We call on these countries to desist from aiding subversive acts by Kanu and IPOB against the state of Nigeria and its people.
“Conversely, there are some friendly countries which, recognising the status of IPOB as a terrorist organization, have either banned the activities of IPOB or placed Kanu on Stop List.
“To these peace loving countries that have put Kanu on their Stop Lists and banned IPOB from operating in their territories, we express our appreciation”, Malami stated.
The AGF disclosed that President Buhari had after Kanu was re-arrested in June, inaugurated a Presidential Ad-hoc Committee to investigate activities of the IPOB.
Nnamdi Kanu Pleads Not Guilty To FG’s Amended Charges
The embattled leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has pleaded not guilty to the seven amended charges preferred against him by the Federal Government.
Kanu, who was re-arraigned at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday, said he was innocent of all the allegations levelled against him.
When the charges were read to him, he pleaded not guilty.
In the course of the hearing, the court refused his application for transfer to Kuje Correctional Centre from the DSS facility where he has been held.
However, the trial judge, Justice Binta Nyako, allowed three persons of his choice to visit him at the DSS facility.
The judge then adjourned the case to November 10 to hear his application, challenging the competence of the charges.
The Federal Government recently amended the charges against him raising them to seven counts as against the five counts he was previously being tried for. The new charges border on treasonable felony and terrorism.
Journalists were denied entry into the courtroom where Kanu’s case was heard.

Produce Nnamdi Kanu In Court On Thursday Unfailingly – Ohanaeze Tells Nigerian Gov't
The apex Igbo socio-political organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has called on the Federal Government to produce Nnamdi Kanu, a pro-Biafra agitator in court on Thursday.
Ohanaeze said producing Kanu unfailing in court would indicate that the IPOB leader is sound in health.
Kanu is expected to appear before Justice Binta Nyako-led Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.
The Department of State Services, DSS, had failed to produce Kanu in court in July, following his rearrest and repatriation from Kenya.
However, Ohanaeze said the IPOB leader should be given a fair trial.
In a statement by its spokesman, Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, the group said the Federal government should “ensure that our son, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is produced in court on Thursday, October 21, 2021.
“This is necessary to prove to the global community that Nnamdi Kanu is not only hale and hearty but that shady judicial process is not contemplated while on trial”.
2023: If We Allow Igbo President Nnamdi Kanu Will Force Him To Declare Biafra – Dokpesi
Raymond Dokpesi, the founder of DAAR Communications, has disclosed how the agitation for Biafra by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has affected the chances of the southeast producing a Nigerian president.
Dokpesi disclosed that some Nigerians believe that Kanu would force a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction to declare Biafra.
He said the IPOB leader may use militant tactics to blackmail and force an Igbo President to declare South East independence.
He stressed that Kanu and IPOB have complicated the agitation of the Southeast to produce a Nigerian president.
Dokpesi, in a statement he issued on Monday, stressed his belief in a united and indivisible Nigeria.
The statement reads partly: “The emergence of IPOB and its influence across the South East has complicated and undermined the agitation for patriotic Nigerians of Igbo extraction to lead this nation as far as the 2023 election is concerned.
“If nobody has told Ohaneze Ndigbo before, the concern today from some other regions is that if Nnamdi Kanu plays the role of Aguiyi Ironsi in leading a militant revolt against constitutional government in the southeast under Igbo presidency, the president will be pressured by his base to facilitate the UN processes for the South East to call for independence from Nigeria.
“Thus an Igbo President may be compromised in protecting the political and geographic boundaries of Nigeria whilst Nigeria remains under the threat of IPOB’s secessionist activities.”
Prior to his rearrest, Kanu had led the agitation for the actualization of Biafra.
While in the United Kingdom, UK, Kanu was pushing for the actualization of Biafra by engaging those he could across the world.
He used Twitter and Radio Biafra more in spreading his Biafra messages across Nigeria and the world.
