This is beautiful!... EMBRACE DIFFERENCES!

Per Harvard Business Review, the neuro-diverse have "super powers", and should be embraced and celebrated as they are, and I second that message!

Hewlett Packard has a program specifically to hire and cultivate neuro-diverse talent. Those teams have a 30% higher output than their counterparts.

NEURO-DIVERSITY IS A DESIRABLE PROFESSIONAL TRAIT!

Thank you Dan J Harris for your work in this area, and for sharing this lovely film, and thank you Lorène FERRANDES for bringing it to my attention.

Please comment below celebrating your, or a loved one's, neuro-diversity!

I am your Host, Katherine!
I have Bipolar (one) and an unusual seizure disorder, and I am therefore neuro-diverse.
I love it!
Is it always easy?
God No!
Would I trade it?
Hell to the no!
My neuro-diversity is a big part of my success!
I run two businesses, one successful and one new. Both center around HR/People work and technology and are focused on inclusion.
I also speak and host two shows, including The Super Manis Show.
I volunteer with two charity organizations: Ft. Pierce Woman's Club and Royal Palms (both in the Treasure Coast of Florida), and I foster animals.
In my spare time, I go to the beach and spend time in nature.
My life is full, and I love it, exactly how I am!
I want everyone else in the neuro-diverse community to feel this way too.
Please reach out of you feel alone, frustrated, or just want to talk about your awesome neuro-diverse "super powers" (the awesome traits you have because of your diversity)!

My super powers:

Inclusive communication is vital in business.
Why? Over 40% of the population has some sort of variance or learning style that involves specific communication needs.
If you go into every communication, meeting, phone call, interview process, etc... with inclusion already in mind, it prevents delays and losses due to ineffective communication and processes.
BEING INCLUSIVE IS EFFICIENT!
Plus, effective, precise communication is helpful for EVERYONE. (Duh!) 🙂
Using the tips below will help you to be as effective as possible in your communication.
What other tips do you have for effective inclusive communication?

TODAY IS A SIEZURE ACTIVITY DAY.
If you did not already know this about me, not only am I neuro-diverse as a (proud) Bipolar woman, but I also have an unusual siezure disorder.
I HAVE NEURO-DIVERSITY COMING FROM EVERYWHERE!

Overall, I positively love it!
There is so much that I can do because of my neuro-diversity: work, think, and learn at exponential speeds, find innovative solutions in every situation, read human non-verbal communication at an advanced level, etc.
Because of my neuro-diversity, I am successful.

But today is not a good day.

Today is not fast, or fun, or easy.

I am shaking a lot. I am spacing out, and I am working very slowly. Sometimes the twinges/siezing hurts, sometimes for a while.

Today sucks.

While I celebrate neuro-diversity, and I enjoy my related super powers, there are tough days. I would not trade my diversity, but it is not always fun.

Why am I sharing this with you all?

No matter your struggles: physical, mental health, kid or parent problems, financial issues, etc... it is important that you use every experience, every personal trait to your advantage. Learn from it and grow using it.

On my bad days, I talk about what is going on with candidates so that they don't feel nervous and to add a human element to our call. It makes them feel more at ease and establishes trust, making our call more successful.

When I had to speak at Web Summit right after a siezure, I shared the experience and the audience connected. They found strength in my story and gumption. As a result, my speech was more memorable.

Use everything life throws at you to grow and succeed. Every experience has value and an aspect of upward momentum if you will just look to apply it.

For me, I can use openness and candor to connect to audiences, clients, and candidates. I also take this time to catch up on admin work.

I am productive WITH my condition, not inspite of it.

Be great everyone!

(You will hear some Schitt's Creek and my kitty Livvy in this video... no apologies for either. 😊)
