My Beautiful Scars A collection of poetry that celebrates the journey towards self discovery. Tackling issues such as feminism, love, loss and self acceptance, these poems delve into my personal world and explore the intricacies of human emotion.
Presented as works on paper, this series of ephemeral self portraits examine the human condition and the relationship we have with our inner selves.
Symbolising duality and self acceptance, my etching Towards Self provided a framework for this series of paintings that explore my inner world. Using a wide range of media, they are an insight into the Jungian archetype of the shadow self and reflect the mutability of human emotion.
My poetry book My Beautiful Scars was launched as part of this exhibition.
Second edition of my latest photography book, Street Life in South and South East Asia with some minor adjustments and fixes.
Street Life in South and South East Asia Of all the places in the world, Asia would have to be one of the most dynamic and interesting. This book is a visual journey through the...

Sacred Waters explores our relationship to water as a source of life and healing.
On my recent visit to Varanasi, India I was inspired by the relationship the Hindu have with the river Ganges. Known as the Mother Ganga, this holy river is personified as a Goddess and bathing in the water is considered sacred.
In these works on paper, I have drawn on my local river as a source of personal healing. Using the female figure to represent the Goddess, these ephemeral forms evoke a pagan reverence to water as being sacred and the female form as a source of life. Works can be viewed here on my website https://www.shelleyhallart.com/2017-sacred-waters
My painting 'Head Above Water' will be included in the Inaugural Bendarts Festival Art Exhibition in Bendigo from 3-9 December, 2017 https://www.facebook.com/events/135246327111655/

Self portrait by Candlelight, 2017
Poetry for me is always the mainstay. Even when I'm not painting, I'm writing poetry. Poems seem to rise up within me until the desire to write them down becomes overwhelming. I've never had any formal writing tuition, preferring instead to keep it raw (and real). Here's a link to my poetry blog featuring a selection of poems. http://acrossthepaddock.blogspot.com.au/
