FAQ #4 - How does the millage rate of Chippewa Hills compare against neighboring school districts?

Chippewa Hills has kept its millage rate lower than many of our neighboring districts. Yet at the same time, CHSD is maintaining a significant amount of buildings: the three Elementary schools in our Weidman, Barryton and Mecosta communities, the Intermediate school, the High school and the Mosaic school.
In addition, keep in mind that CHSD has a very large geographic span (367 square miles) compared to the next biggest districts in our area, Reed City (216 sqm) and Evart (200 sqm).

Frequently Asked Question #3 - How much will it cost me?

1.5 mills is equal to $1.50 for every $1000 worth of taxable value of property. For example, a $100,000 home has a taxable value of $50,000 which means it would cost the homeowner $75/year ($1.50 X 50 = $75).

If you are not sure what your property’s taxable value is, a good place to go to is
https://app.fetchgis.com/?currentMap=mecosta

Either zoom in on the map until you find your parcel, click on it and chose ‘Show Details’ or use the Search function (the magnifying glass symbol in the top right menu) to find your parcel by entering the owner’s name and / or street address.

The General property details window that will appear shows a ‘General information for 2019 Tax Year’ section, where you can find the current Taxable value of your property. To calculate how the millage rate impacts you, divide the taxable value by 1,000 and then multiply it by 1.5.
