Wow, it's been quite the year! For three semesters I've been immersed in an intensive course on Breathontology and as new grads, we've been offering a free summer series so that you can sample the subtle richness of this new approach to knowing and growing yourself.
Next Tuesday, August 16 at 6 pm EST I'm going to be taking my turn teaching a "Sequence for Clear Communication" that I designed as part of my studies.

For the past year I've been on an incredible journey with a group of very talented women. Together we have been studying the science of breathing and the art of using the breath as a vehicle for self-healing. Our studies have been rich, intensive and life changing. Our teacher, Berdhanya Swami Tierra, offered us hands on experience of ancient teachings, immersed us in mystic texts and tapped International experts to be guest speakers.
As new graduates of Breathontology, we are excited to share what we learnt with you by offering you the FREE opportunity to explore the power of your breath through an inspiring 8-week online series which we've called the Summer Inner Breeze Series.
Classes will be about an hour in length and are designed to be gentle, fun, rejuvenating and inspiring. They will include guided relaxation, gentle movements, breath work, and meditation, and are suitable for beginners or those of any level of experience or background.
This FREE 8-week series starts TOMORROW, July 5 at 6 pm EST in an online forum and will be offered every Tuesday at the same time.

In Episode Six of Breath Break we take a close look at what it means to breath vertically as opposed to breathing horizontally. Engaging our diaphragm increases the vertical space within our chest cavity. Diaphragmatic breathing is the most efficient way of increasing the volume of air we breathe in as it takes the least amount of muscular effort.
Vertical breathing also helps maximizes the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide in our lungs ensuring we don't accumulate stale air. Using the diaphragm makes the heart's job easier, massages the organs within our abdominal cavity and reduces tension within the body. So many great benefits!

In this episode of Breath Break, we focus on bringing breath into our shoulders. Breathing into the clavicular area is really like putting icing on a cake. The upward movement of the shoulders and the expansion of the shoulder blades gives our lungs more space, allowing us to breath in even more air. Just a bit more movement and relaxation in this area really adds that last touch to a full and complete breath.
We also tend to hold a lot of tension in our shoulders. Breathing into this area helps massage and relieve tightness. When we spend a lot of time sitting at a desk or at our computers, we have our heads bent slightly down. This position collapses our lungs and brings our shoulders forward and down. The exercises in this episode help counter the negative impacts of spending a lot of time in shoulder collapsing positions.

I am very excited about my summer meditation series entitled Nature Speaks. This morning the rain is pouring down in my backyard and it inspired me to record the first meditation for this series. As I sat and listened to the rain, I was struck by the incredible contrast to the deep drought being experienced by southern Arizona, where I was visiting last week.
This meditation invites you to reflect on the contrasts in your own life and in the world around us. We live in a time where two completely different realities often live side by side, or layered one on top of each other. When we inhabit in totality one reality, it is impossible to believe that any other reality can exist, much less be real or true. Yet here I am sitting in my backyard listening to rain pour down after visiting a few short days ago a location where such rain is only a dream.
So what do we do with these contrasts, what can they teach us?

This Thursday I'm going to be launching a new virtual course called Be the Peace: Foundations & Growth. This course is for anyone who wishes to push their inner reset button and use the forces of spring to support a program of purification and regeneration.
You will learn simple yet profound tools for conducting a spring cleaning on all levels of your being. Breath work, meditation, yoga and a light cleansing program will all support you in laying new foundations for your inner and outer growth.
At the core of this course is a daily practice of breath work and stillness which you will be taught and given as homework to do every day. This practice will offer you the opportunity to really shed what no longer serves you and open up space for fresh, new possibilities.

In partnership with the incredibly talented artist Eleftheria Easley, we will be taking you through a journey of meditation and artistic expression that is certain to open up new possibilities within and without. Workshop will take place over Zoom and no previous experience is necessary in either art or meditation!
