Today's Gold Award Spotlight is on Adoriam DeWalt!
By bringing together community members, Adoriam raised awareness about the decline of bird populations in the US and promoted the creation of sustainable bird-friendly areas in neighborhoods, community buildings, and park reserves. In collaboration with non-profit organizations such as COOP, Glenn Miller Ag camp, YMCA, and Houston Audubon, Adoriam educated young adults through presentations about the loss of bird habitats and encouraged them to take action.
She highlighted that Houston is the second-worst city in America for migratory birds and provided three simple ways to help in the backyard: building birdhouses for shelter, providing food and water, and turning off lights that disrupt night migratory patterns.
