❤️ It’s the small things. And yet…the ability to gather with family and friends is something I will not take for granted.

😊 This is one meal that ends in happily ever after!

🥦🥒🥕🥬🫑 Dip Dinners are a favorite of mine.

Here are 3 reasons why!

1️⃣ They are make ahead.

2️⃣ There is something everyone will eat.

3️⃣ It’s easy to make healthy with just enough indulgence to please a crowd!

In my kids cooking membership, we cover a whole lesson of dips and dippers kids can make that are perfect to feed a family (even hungry teenagers love it!)

What are your favorite dips and dippers?

🚪I hear the door SLAM immediately followed by a chorus of, “Mom, what’s for supper?”

⚾️🏀🏈⛳️ I love that my boys know there will be food on the table to fill their rumbling bellies after a long day of school and whatever sport is in season.

🚪I remember doing the same thing. I remember being so hungry after practice. And I remember feeling relief at the sight of the old wooden door my dad painted red. It led right into the kitchen of my childhood home.

♥️ I remember Mom always being in the kitchen to greet us as we walked in the door.

🍳 My mom always planned ahead so we could all sit down to eat breakfast and supper together EVERYDAY.

🧺As a mom, it amazes me now how she would work all day, do ALL the laundry, and prepare a home cooked meal twice a day.

♥️ She taught us to make our own meals. How to feed ourselves. And now we feed our own families.

🏡 I still love to walk through the door at my parents’ house to the smell of a home-cooked meal. These days it is with my boys and husband in tow.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦👨‍👩‍👦‍👦🏡♥️ What I love even more is when my sister and her family are home, too, and we all gather in the kitchen and share memories while we feed our families.

That’s food for the soul.

✋ This is for the mom who feels pulled in all directions.

🥴 The mom who wonders how she is going to do everything she needs to do before it’s time to crawl in bed and start all over the next morning.

🙋‍♀️ This is for the mom who feels torn between being a good wife, a good boss or a good employee, and being a good mom.

📚 There is no manual for motherhood. Oh, haven’t we all wondered at times how other women seem to “get it” when we’re at a loss!

📣 I want you to know this:

💪 You’re doing great.

✅ You are the perfect mother for your children.

➡️ They want you and only you. They want to be seen and heard. They want your love and your time.

👩‍👧‍👦 Mamas…we are making memories. We are making a childhood. We are making adults!

❤️ They will treasure these days.

🥰 They will treasure the memories made.

👊 You got this.

⭐️ “Remember, Sarah…we’re raising adults. Not children.”

🙈 I cannot tell you how many times my friend, Rae Lynn, has said this to me. Especially in the early years of parenting.

⏰ She would tell me this when I would tell her that time is a thief.

👶🏼 Or when I told her with sad eyes that Jack no longer needed a bottle.

🚲 Or when Brett no longer needed training wheels on his bike.

🏅While I viewed these milestones passing as something to mourn, she always helped me reframe my thoughts to appreciate the boys’ successful completion of a childhood stepping stone.

🌈 How grateful we can be that our children are maturing and learning new things!

💥 That is one reason my boys know how to clean the kitchen. It is important to me that they know what they need when they are on their own.

🤣 Well, that, and the fact that after a sleepover I heard the mom tell another mom that “whomever cooked last night left the kitchen in a state of crisis”. 😵

🤡 And then I asked my child who the midnight snack chef was. It was him.

✅ I have a checklist for a clean kitchen that we used to learn how to get it done in no time!

Want to know something I've learned?

🤝While making fondue is not a basic life skill every adult will use, it sure is a good way to gather friends for good conversations.

🎉Have you ever noticed how everyone crowds the kitchen at a party? Or how we have some of the most amazing conversations around the table? Sharing food brings us together.

🧀Food is a gathering tool. Sometimes the novelty of fondue on an otherwise ordinary Sunday night is just the thing to bring friends and family together.

🏆Teach your child to cook. It doesn't have to be fancy. Everybody is looking for a little cozy these days. Whether it's a grilled cheese kind of night or a meal made from scratch, most people appreciate a home cooked meal.

📣I love what says about cooking at home...it is the "best way to simultaneously press pause and play on life."

💡One thing I have learned about parenting teens is that I have to be strategic if I want to connect and spend quality time with my boys.

😅If I were to ask if they wanted to spend quality time together, it would be a hard pass.

🙌When I ask if my son wants to recreate that culinary concoction he told me he saw on TikTok, I get his undivided attention.

🗣️What is one way you spend quality time with your kids? 👇

Ok moms of hungry teenagers...

What is your go-to after school snack?

❤️My fifteen year-old always wants something "hot!" when he comes home from football practice after school.

💡This week I batch-cooked meatball subs, individually wrapped them, and showed him where they are in the freezer so he can help himself!

🗣️What do your kids eat after school? 👇

❤️You don't have to be a chef to offer your family the perfect ending to a busy day.

❤️Gathering around the table, sharing highs and lows, and learning to slow down and enjoy each other's company happens when we break bread together.

❤️It is a sweet ending to any day.
