Meet Inga our pregnancy yoga specialist🤰 Pregnancy Yoga is an extremely beneficial way to prepare for the birth of your baby.

During each session, Inga concentrates on specific physical exercises (asanas), which care for the needs of your pregnant body e.g.: building up strength and flexibility or reducing common ailments such as lower back pain, pelvic girdle pain, sciatica etc.

We master how to breathe properly during pregnancy and labour. These breathing techniques provide you with a powerful approach to the management of labour pain and various emotions.

We learn birthing positions, which soothe and ease your labour and reduce pain.
We practise relaxing techniques, which help you to reconnect with your inner power, confidence and belief, that you have all you need to give birth to your baby.

Overall pregnancy yoga offers your theoretical and practical knowledge as part of the Birthing Preparation Routine.

Testomonial:

“Hi Inga
I have been meaning to email you for ages and I am sorry that I have only just got round to it. I had our baby daughter in January.  The experience was amazing. I only use “the golden thread breath” and some gas and air. I felt calm, in control and relaxed. The labour was pretty quick and with the help of breathing techniques I learnt during yoga and birthing pool it was so much easier.
I wanted to thank you for what you taught me in your classes and let you know that it made such a big difference to my attitude towards labour, my eventual labour and the relaxed way in which our daughter entered the world.
Thank you so much”

Utthita Trikonasana is a pose which promotes a heart-opening expansion of the chest as we ground down with our feet.
It stretches the hamstrings and back muscles which opens the hip area while activating the abdominal muscles.

A frequent mistake is people wanting to touch the ground with their fingertips which can bring the body into misalignment. It's important to use the right muscles to support the upper body so there is a strong foundation from which to extend.

Top Tips for a healthy Triangle pose with right foot forward

-Turn your left foot in slightly and your right foot out to 90 degrees.
- Align your right heel with your left heel
-Firm your thighs and rotate your right thigh outward
-extend your torso to the right, bending from your hip joint, not the waist. ⠀
- strengthen the left leg, pressing the outer heel firmly to the floor.
-Your hands, arms and shoulders will form a straight line, perpendicular to your mat. (if not, use a block)
- never lock your knee! Engage your leg muscles
- lengthen the tailbone toward the back heel.
-Keep your head in a neutral position

*Crown of the head skims the ground
*Walk your feet towards your head without hunching in the shoulders
* Transition one foot at a time upward into a “puppy pose”
* Rise the legs slowly and look at life from a different perspective 🤩

You will be guided with experienced teachers every step of the way during the livestream, which is ideal when you are just beginning with meditation.

The practise of meditation is about sitting with what is. No matter what arises, it is instrumental to not judge the experience, but to create a distance between the thinking mind and what lies behind it.

There are many meditation styles that Beatrice and Arlene will cover. Can you tell us what kind of meditation inspires you?

Climber? Or just a yoga practitioner looking to increase mobility and strength to better prepare you for climbing or to better understand your yoga practise?

Yoga cliché:" I am not flexible for yoga" or " I am not the spiritual type" are just some comments we often hear.

There are many facets to yoga. Yoga as a spiritual practise is huge and is important for some, but if you are looking to ALSO better understand your body and it's functionality, then you are at the right place with the classes suited for climbers.

Our "yoga for climbers" classes are suited to everyone looking to dive deeper into the anatomy of the body. Every Tues and Thursday with Andrea and Sarah!

Core strength is an instrumental element to having a balanced body.
Without it we can develop poor posture sometimes resulting in lower back pain which can transmute into a form of lower confidence in how we walk in a room.

Boat is pose is widely mistaken only for using our abs, but the real stars of the show here are your hip flexors, a group of muscles that decreases the angle of your hip joint. We tend to stretch these muscles (hip flexors) often (think lunge for example) , however we equally need to strengthen them. Balance, right?

Top Tips for a healthy boat pose:

-use a block between your thigh legs during boat pose so u have better control over how you stay upright in the pose without sinking into the lower back.
- keep your knees bent if you have tight hamstrings

Sue, Cody and Beatrice all incorporate core work in their weekly classes.

Forrest Yoga is a slow-paced vinyasa practice.
It features pranayama, core work, and long held poses.

This form of yoga will increase your strength and stamina. It can release tension and stress while improving breathing.

Forrest Yoga was created by yoga teacher Ana Forrest. She is a Native American Medicine Woman who took a spiritual vow “to mend the rainbow hoop of the people.”

This yoga is considered a healing practise by addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs including elements such as core work, meditation, breathwork and key poses held longer.

Cody Friedman teaches weekly Forrest Yoga on our platform. Not in a forrest.

Yoga squat, also termed as "malasana" in Sanskrit

This pose is great for:
- opens the hips, especially when sitting in a chair all day
- aids digestions
- increases flexibility / mobility in the lower body / healthy range of motion
- can relieve lower back aches
- stretches the ankles & groin

Some helpful tips

To protect your knees, keep them together as you bend your legs into the pose, then spread your knees.
Your heels may come up when you squat. Therefore, place a folded blanket under your heels for support. Otherwise, the pose will place more pressure forward rather than down.
Or sit on a block

Happy garland pose :-)

Power yoga is an active and athletic, Western style of yoga, created simultaneously by American yoga teachers such as Baron baptise in the 1980s.
Power yoga has become popular in the Western world for its challenge-centric approach to yoga.
This style does not follow a set series of poses and may vary greatly depending on the teacher. The commonality between various Power yoga classes is their emphasis on building strength and endurance.
Power yoga generally appeals to most Western yoga practitioners who seek an active, yang style of yoga.
Baron Baptiste later created a spin on Power yoga and branded it as Baptiste Power Vinyasa.

Tight hips? Sit less, move more! Opening our hips means stretching all the muscles around the hips. Most yoga classes will usually always tackle the hips at some point, called "hip openers.”

There are over 20 muscles that cross the hip.
The adductors, the abductors, the hip flexors are in front, & deep lateral rotators are in back.
A variety of muscles are also attached into the femur starting from the pelvis, the lumbar spine & the sacrum.
Sitting down for long periods during the day will shorten these muscles resulting in a stiff back , tight hips resulting in emotional blockages and overall emotional and physical stagnation.

Book any of our classes and discover different ways to stretch these muscles and open your hips.

Restorative yoga is a type of yoga known for its relaxing, calming and healing effect. It has its roots in the yoga of B.K.S. Iyengar, who developed a yoga that allows students to practice without any strain or pain.

This is ideal for those recovering from injuries or illnesses.
Restorative yoga has a balancing effect on our nervous system. Instead of being in fight or flight mode, in these classes we can train to be in our rest and digest mode.
