Yesterday, JAG Specialists from 12 Marion County schools, and several select students from each, gathered at the Indiana Army National Guard Lawrence Armory, for the 2023 JAG Indy Leadership Development Conference. This all day event was filled with breakout sessions, professional development, an address from keynote speaker City-County Councillor La Keisha Jackson and even an outdoor obstacle course courtesy of the National Guard.

Yesterday, a group of JAG Indy students from George Washington High School and Crispus Attucks High School had the privilege of attending a financial literacy event, put on by Regions Bank, that featured a walk-through of the classic board game, LIFE. During the exercise, students formed a budget based on salaries and housing prices as well as cellphone, utility, and the always dreaded, "unexpected expenses."
Regions also announced that it will be making a $30,000 donation to JAG Indiana to help the program develop new leadership opportunities for JAG students throughout Indiana.
Congratulations to the JAG students for a successful Initiation and Installation ceremony! These JAG officers and members will do tremendous service to their program and community throughout the school year! Kudos! 🎉🎊🎈
91 JAG students participated today in a day of both learning and fun activities at Victory Field. The event was hosted by the Indianapolis Indians and Regions Bank and included a company tour, career exploration, financial literacy session, and an informative Q&A about careers in sports by Dwayne Underwood Jr., a pitcher for the Indians and Pittsburgh Pirates.
The event was attended by JAG students from Decatur Central High School, George Washington High School, North Central High School, Renaissance School and the Indiana School for the Deaf. This afternoon, EmployIndy and JAG Indy had the privilege of gathering at Victory Field to celebrate our JAG senior class at our annual JAG Senior Send-Off!
JAG Indy provides students the opportunity to develop the personal, leadership, and employability skills they need for success after high school. And for a full year after graduation, JAG students receive support and contact from their Specialists and the JAG team as they offer assistance transitioning into the workforce and/or furthering their education.

Congratulations to the JAG Indy team on all the accolades received at the JAG State Training Seminar this week! This team was recognized for earning the ‘6 of 6’ award outcomes along with longevity awards for Mr. Carpenter, Mr. Young, and Mrs. Vea-Smith. Special shout out to Ms. Commissiong from for being honored as one of the State’s Outstanding Specialists of the Year! The passion and dedication of this team is relentless and inspiring when it comes to serving our JAG Indy students!
For the eighth year in a row, the JAG Indy program has been awarded the national ‘6 of 6’ award by exceeding all 6 student outcome goals. These 6 performance measures represent the gold standard in positive outcomes for JAG students. JAG Indy continues to deliver on its promise to support students in successfully reaching their goals through graduation and beyond.

JAG students from our Decatur Township School for Excellence program learned about careers in aviation today thanks to our partners at AAR Aircraft Services and Vincennes Aviation and Technology Center. Most of the students have never been on a plane, but can now say they have sat in a first class seat!
Our JAG student Imani killed it as an Emcee at the Mayor’s Celebration of Diversity Awards today in support of Project Indy! Not only did she showcase her incredible public speaking skills, but she is a testament to the impact young people make in the workforce! On Friday, JAG Indy students competed against students from across Indiana to showcase their employability skills gained through the JAG program at the State Career Development Conference hosted by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development at Ivy Tech Community College.

During the 2021-2022 school year, JAG served a total of 816 students across 15 schools. Of those served, 269 students from the Class of 2021 were supported through JAG’s follow-up services. In 2023 JAG continues its dedication to preventing dropouts among high school students who have serious barriers to graduation and/or employment.

Indiana General Assembly plans to focus on workforce education in upcoming legislative session Leaders at the state house have said that education -- with a focus on workforce development -- will be a big focus in the upcoming session.
JAG Indy is excited to have recently launched a new program location at Franklin Central High School!
Housed at EmployIndy since 2006, JAG Indy has served over 7,090 students, earned a 5/5 status the past seven years, and is recognized as a Gold Standard program nationally. On average, JAG participants maintain better than a 95% graduation rate and over 75% positive outcomes, or full-time hours pursuing a postsecondary education or retaining employment.

JAG students from the Indiana School for the Deaf volunteered at Junior Achievement’s JobSpark event today and yesterday to help 8th graders explore careers through hands-on activities. Two of the students were also interviewed by Roadtrip Nation about their career interests! Way to share those employability skills with younger students! You make us proud!!!
The Decatur Township School for Excellence JAG program hosted guests for a site visit this week. Students worked on a personality assessment and a team building challenge. With the engaging curriculum and personal support, it’s no wonder Mrs. Saucier is recognized as one of the nation’s Outstanding Specialists!
Thanks to and for hosting JAG students from Decatur Township School for Excellence, Shortridge HS, Southport HS, and Warren Central HS today! Students toured the facilities, worked with Regions staff on career goals, and participated in a Q&A to learn about careers in sports!
