Really looking forward to seeing everyone and looks like we have a interesting wind forecast....
We have a table at 1830hrs on Sat at the boat that rocks Portland Harbour for a pull up the sand bag and swing the light catch up🤪🤙

Some people are staying at the Aqua Hotel.

Morning Troops, (Past & Present) we have just completed our 1st ASA Windsurfing Past & Present Reunion which was held at Portland 10/11 Oct 2020.
We were a little light of Troops on the ground due to the current COVID restrictions.
The group https://www.facebook.com/groups/533313683881397 has been set up for Ex Army Windsurfers of all abilities with an option to come together for an annual fun weekend on and off the water.
However, I do rely on all of us to introduce the group and invite other new ex army windsurfers to the group.
So one for your diaries, the next reunion is due to be held at Portland on 2/3 Oct 2021 and stay safe everyone.

Recce Party arrived early at Portland in readiness for tomorrows reunion🤙 12 to 17knots 😉 Most of us on 7m to 8.1m

For those who no longer have any windsurfing kit and fancy a dabble at the reunion weekend, first thing to note kit is not cheap. Not that is ever was.
Anyway, I have spoken to Tris who owns the Official Test Centre (OTC) situated at Portland Sailing Academy which hire out equipment there rental costs are £60.00 per day. However, must be pre-booked, which can do so by calling 01305 230296

The ASA (Windsurfing) Past & Present Reunion is taking place at Portland 10-11 Oct 2021.

The idea was to use the Aqua Hotel at Portland as our central hub for those who require accommodation/food and beverage for Saturday Night.

Some of us have already booked accommodation and not 100% sure of availability. However, I have just confirmed that due to COVID, they are no longer offering food and bar facilities to non-residents. While I appreciate there will be people accommodating themselves within vans or may have made alternative arrangements.

We will have to find a central place to have a few beers together and may require to book somewhere to accommodate us all.

So, It would be good to know who is intending or not using the Aqua for accommodation and have an idea of total numbers attending the weekend.

For several years the former members of RLCYC (W) have held a past and present windsurfing reunion down in Portland in the early part of October.
It's always great to catch up with fellow vet windsurfers, over a few social beers, a bit of banter with a tad of windsurfing thrown in for good measure!
Portland holds so many fond memories for army windsurfing. It's the perfect venue with its accessible, friendly conditions added to the fact the OTC has such a great selection of the latest equipment available to hire.
So for 2020, we are going to throw out the invite to Army past and present windsurfers.
It would be great to see as many people as possible, and like all these things, people lead busy lives, so in order to plan the reunion the dates are from Fri 9th till Sun 11th October 2020.
While I appreciate not everyone will be able to make the whole three days, by adding a Fri there is the possible option that our regular counterparts, will be able to join us for some windsurfing trg and add it to their events calendar.
We will base ourselves from The Aqua Hotel on Portland, however, if you would like accommodation book early to avoid disappointment as it's very popular, for those who wish to sleep in vans there is a free public carpark from 1800hrs till 0800hrs alongside the carpark and partners are very welcome.
