Disaster assistance 04/05/2020

The new aid package approved by Congress includes $60 billion to renew funding for the Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) program and adds $320 billion to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). Here’s what we currently know:

1. The Small Business Administration (SBA) has resumed accepting PPP loan applications.
2. The SBA is not currently accepting new EIDL applications based on available appropriations funding. However, applicants who have already submitted their applications will continue to be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Our understanding is that if you already have an application submitted and the application number begins with the #3, your application remains in the queue.

More information on the PPP and EIDL loan programs can be found at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/. For application assistance, please contact an SBA customer service representative at 800-659-2955 or by email at [email protected].

Disaster assistance The SBA provides low-interest disaster loans to help businesses and homeowners recover from declared disasters.

COVID-19 Business Disaster Recovery Assistance - Florida SBDC Network 14/04/2020

If your business has been adversely impacted by COVID-19 we encourage you to explore the COVID-19 Small Business Disaster Recovery Assistance website, http://floridasbdc.org/disaster/. There you can find information on Small Business Administration (SBA) loans, grant programs, debt relief, and more. You may be eligible and qualify for a short-term, potentially forgivable loan through the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and/or a long-term, low-interest working capital disaster loan through the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program (EIDL). In addition, EIDL applicants may request at the time of application a loan advance of up to $10,000 ($1,000 per employee) which you do not have to pay back.

If you are considering applying, it is important to do so quickly! Fortune Magazine reports that the PPP, as of Monday morning (4/13) had approved 880,000 applications for a total of $217 billion, according to SBA figures. That equals roughly 62% of allocated dollars, up from 48% allocated on Friday. Applications for the program are continuing to flood in, with an additional 219,000 submitted since Friday.

According to TechWire, “Funding is expected to run out Wednesday, according to the current rate of approvals,” Peter Gwaltney, Chief Executive Officer of the North Carolina Banker’s Association told WRAL TechWire Monday evening. The program is capped at $349 billion. But that could change. “Congress is [currently] debating legislation to approve another $250 billion for the program,” Gwaltney said.

We will continue to monitor this situation and will share information as we learn more.
