Joveline’s solar oven crayon activity demonstrates the power of solar energy. It is one creative way to help other students and the community learn more about the renewable energy industry sector.

Joveline is one of the talented Kauai Community Science Center (KSCS) student interns engaging with hands-on project-based learning related to the West Kauai Energy Project (WKEP). This project is the first-of-its-kind pumped storage hydroelectric project powered by solar + battery energy storage. KCSC interns have the opportunity to create relevant STEM content to be shared back with the community with the help and support of KIUC, AES, Science Center, and the STEAM Truck.

AES, together with our partner Kauai Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC), is proud to serve as an Industry Partner for Kauai Community Science Center (KSCS).

AES joins the Kaua‘i community in celebrating the purchase and permanent preservation of Alakoko fishpond, a 600-year old Native Hawaiian fishpond. Now that the land is protected, a tremendous amount of work still needs to be done to restore the fishpond and its surrounding native wetland and estuary.

Our team was inspired by Malama Huleia’s long-term vision of working with the community using modern technology alongside the indigenous wisdom of Native Hawaiian fishpond aquaculture. Restoring Alakoko to one day feed the community will bring the island one step closer to becoming more sustainable and food secure.

In pursuit of this vision, this , AES will double your donation to Alakoko Fishpond! Learn more and support the effort at www.RestoreTheFishpond.org
