Norwich blackball league

So just a couple of dates to let you all know about starting with the AGM for the Norwich Blackball league.
AGM will be held on Monday 9th of September starting at 7 pm.
Any league based questions to be sent into the league by the 2nd of September so we can answer them on the night.
The winter league will be starting back on Monday 21st October.
From Tuesday 1st of October will be the deadline for all team entries for the winter league.
Summer Finals night will be on Saturday 26th October at Rileys Norwich starting at 6.00pm with the 3 man final and semi finals of the cup kicking us all off.

Afternoon everyone

So after a few people asking im just going to clarify finals night.

The 3 man and 9 ball will be played down to the final

8 ball cup will be semi final and final

This is due to running multiple cups and comps throughout the season and having the potential of team and players being in multiple events

We can't expect players to leave their teams to play other fixtures and not be able to support their teams or receive support from them

All draws have been done and are on the website I'll post the draws being done in the captains chat for anyone who wants to double check

Don't forget tonight is the 3 man event format is below

3 man draws for next week and venues (rileys are using 6 tables they will put people wherever the venue is the home advantage not the table)

It is a normal knockout cup it will be singles frames best of 9 the format is as follows

All matches will be played on Monday nights to make sure players are available any postponement will have the same rules as league with 48hrs notice required or a forfeit

Well what a winter league Finals Night and a big thank you to Emma and chloe and her team for helping me set up and deliver a great night of pool and drinks.
Firstly a big well done to Aaron Howard for winning the singles championship after a brilliant final beating Robbie Palmer 5-4 and taking home the Alan Hardy trophy and £120.00 in prize money.
The Doubles championship was contested between four great players Peter mulaney and Simon ramm v Kevin steward and Daniel Bestford with Peter and Simon winning 6 -3 and the Norwich security specialist sponsored Trophy and £ 70.00 in prize money.
Well done to Riley’s cuckoo’s who took home the 8 ball Cup beating Manic Mondays in the final 8-7.
In the subsidiary Cup the winners of the winners take all were William legends beating Riley’s smashers 8- 5 in the final Well done .
Well done to the Temple knights who won divison 1 title.
Top of the stats league 1 taking home a bottle of whisky was Reece Taylor.
Top of the stats the premier league was Jayden browne also taking home a trophy and a bottle of whisky.
And Well done to Riley’s cuckoo’s who took home the premier league title Well done to Pete and his merry men.
And Finally a big thank you to Norwich Security specialist and Rileys Norwich for there continuing support with sponsorship.

So after a few discussions we as a committee have decided to try out a new format for the league. Hopefully this will open up for a more competitive season for all teams where everyone has the potential to get some good wins under their belts.

With this we have 3 divisions and will play each team home and away twice!!

Fixtures start from Monday 08/04!! So no rest for the wicked.

Please feel free to check your draws for the cups as they are out and all fixtures released. Check Iver team sheets and any problems please let Reece know and I'll get round amending that asap

As we have a odd number of teams there is 1 preliminary match to be played for both cups which I would request teams to arrange and play themselves

If teams are able to do so that's a great help for the league and players not having to miss a week just for these 2 games to be played

We will want as much feedback about this format at our agm as if this works well and teams enjoy this then we could see this being a format used in the future this is YOUR league for us to make the changes people want we need feedback at our meeting through our page or email address if needed.

Fantastic night last night at Riley’s for the blackball open flyer.
Thankyou to all who turned out,very strong field and well done to Karl Sutton and Tim Goodfellow who reached the main final and decided to split the money.
In the 1 frame shoot out winner takes all saw Karl Sutton take all the money beating Tommy Lewis well done Karl and Thankyou to you all who played.
Saturday the 30th of March sees finals night at Riley’s Norwich starting at 6pm goodluck to all players.
Also if you wish to join the league with a Team we are now taking entry’s for the summer league.

For any teams looking for a venue the Gordon are happy to accommodate a team under a new management

Before tonight's doubles a reminder it is not up to the venue to provide a additional table for team practice if your table is in use you can either wait or if the venue requests it pay for another we as a league run these comps for all the players it is not our problem if people choose not to enter and we will not stand for people complaining and moaning to venues about such if this continues then ALL side comps will stop and if that happens with current numbers a season would be done within 3/4 months with huge gaps in between seasons

So tomorrow see the start of our singles league competition

Norfolk County Pool Trials for 2024 are being held at Spencer's Sportsbar 114c Regent Road Great Yarmouth NR30 2AB (above McDonalds)

Ladies, Seniors (age 50 on or before 31 December 2024) and Juniors (age 17 or below on 31 December 2023) trials will be on Sunday 14 January 2024

Mens and Under 23 (age 22 or below on 31 December 2023) trials will be on Sunday 21 January 2024
