Welcome to Grandpa’s Farm!

We are two “old fogies” trying to honor local and natural resources, and to serve the community with a variety of home-grown, healthy products.

More work on the wind break with friends. Two hands can do three times as much work as one. Nine hands…,

Got a good start on a 4.5 acre wildlife area we’re planning on for the back of our property. With a couple of friends who came to help we added Ponderosa Pine, Blue Spruce, Spirea, Red Currents, Hawthorn, and a few other native plants. All together yesterday we planted 115 trees and shrubs.

Our latest adventure on Grandpa’s Farm is three new pigs. They join Doc (sheep) and Rascal (goat obviously). One of the pigs (oscar) thought Doc was getting to bold with the food and chased him all over the main field, so I had to move him into a second field and make a makeshift shelter until I get a chance to make a permanent one.

Projects around the farm currently are:
1) 224 trees planted in 5 rows that will provide a windbreak in about 10 years.
2) 75 trees, all native, spread over about 4 acres to create a wildlife sanctuary in the middle of thousands of acres of commercial farmland.
3) I’m at war with voles and pocket gophers who have decided they like the roots of the fruit trees that we planted over the last two years. (38 trees and growing.
4) continuing work on a new 4000 sq ft additional garden space .

I can’t see what I’m writing anymore so that’s it for today.
The good looking guy in the picture is my friend Gary who will be buying the little IPP you see in the pics.

So, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything here on Grandpa’s Farm page. But, we’ve been busy building up our homestead. Here are some pics of what we’ve been doing.

We're back at it. Even smaller, for a time! Long COVID has taken a toll on veggie production, but WE'VE GOT EGGS!! Our chicks from March are now laying, so eggs o' plenty means it's a GO for our honor-system, self-serve "Tiny Little Farm Stand." And you can see that we have summer squash we're not keeping up with.

TODAY'S SUMMER SQUASH SPECIAL: 2/$1.00
