This is 6 year old Albert, with words from Mum Amelia, on Albert's Usher syndrome diagnosis and information on Albert's Big Punch for CureUsher. π
"Albert was born with moderate/severe hearing loss and fitted with hearing aids at 7 weeks old. He had bloods taken and we gave the hospital the go ahead to do the basic genetic test (the basic test doesn't test for Usher)
Albert results came back with an unknown cause. We were happy and believed it was just one of those things.
Albert is the most outgoing, inquisitive child, his constant need to find out more about the world around him is so endearing. His love for animals and life is the most beautiful energy to be around, he really is an incredible kid.
At 4 years old, I noticed Albert was suffering with slight light sensitivity. I called Genetics and asked them to run some more blood tests. I knew it was Usher Syndrome, as I had done a lot of research as soon as I noticed the sensitivity to light.
A year later in January 2022, I got the call to tell me that Albert has Usher syndrome. I knew instantly to always trust my mother instincts.
We are a family of 4, Albert is now 6 years old and has an older brother, Reggie who is 8 years old and not forgetting our beautiful dog, Tiger.
It is now our mission as a family to raise funds and awareness, I hope my little Albert will be proud of what we have achieved in the future."
Thank you from all of Us, an astonishing Β£2,300 has already been raised! More information on Albert's Big Punch is below, or send us a message and we can relay to Albert's family.

This year i am running the brighton mararhon for Albert and First step. Please fet in touch to donate cash or check out the link to our just giving page.
Albert was born with a moderate/severe hearing loss in both ears. The hospital run a few blood tests for common causes of hearing loss and all come back OK. So we just assumed it was just one of those things until 2 years ago I started noticing that Albert was dealing with light sensitivity. I took Albert for eye tests all come back OK. They run some further investigation into Albert's blood and confirmed Albert had Ushers Syndrome. Ushers syndrome is the most common cause of combined deaf and blindness (strangely as it extremely rare) being such a rare condition means not alot of funding and research goes into possible cures for ushers.
This year I am running the Brighton marathon to raise money in aid of Albert and First Step. Please che k out the link and fund raiser. Thank you π
