Tom Kreffer
Tom Kreffer has a degree in film and television and has worked in finance for over ten years. Dear Dory is his first book. I’m humbled by it.
He lives in Northampton, England with his family, whom he intends to exploit for many more story opportunities in the years to come. I’m a writer who writes to his son every day about parenthood from a dad’s point of view. I do this for many reasons: to force myself to reflect deeply about my role as a parent; to create a gift for him when he’s older (imagine your parents giving you their journals
Hang out with your family as often as you can and do as much cool s**t as you can with them. You will NEVER regret it.
Another great day at nursery. He said he spent much of the day as Swamp Island. I believed him!
You just never know when a bout of will arrive to slap you around the face, but this was one of those times
End-of-day nursery report:
Socks - clean(ish)
Face - see for yourself
Reason: he was digging in the earth looking for bugs. He found some. Today is a success!
The force is strong in this one…
I doubt im any different when eating pizza!
Here’s to a year of dirty socks and getting our kids outside as much as possible!
Hey, I’m not judging - I’m just calling it how I see it.
I felt like saying, ‘Just you wait until you have kids!’ but then I remembered I say that to him everyday, and it’s arguably lost it’s effectiveness.
On first glance, this is one incredibly clean end-of-day nursery sock for my 4yo, but it’s appearance is misleading. He’s got these new waterproof winter boots that should, in theory, keep white socks white. Evidently, that theory doesn’t hold up!
3 minutes might not sound long, but when your caught in playtime limbo, you feel every second of it.
Practicing for Bake Off, though he needs to stop eating all the ingredients before we’ve done any baking.
I’ve become so proficient at this that I’ve updated my CV and listed ‘fake dying’ as one of my USP’s.
Excerpt from The Search for Sanity: Life with a Two-Year-Old:
'To be custodian of another, to protect them and love them, to teach and learn with them, to endure the hard times while enjoying the good. It’s all linked. It all comes wrapped up in the sacred, honour- bound gig we call parenthood. And if you go into the gig with both eyes open, you can find moments of meaningfulness and a rich human connection everywhere you look. Yes, it’s tiring and demanding, but aren’t all the best adventures like that? Isn’t life itself like that?'
Very pleased to announce that The Search For Sanity has officially been endorsed by Santa, 80% of the elven community and 10/12 of his top reindeer lieutenants (including the one who’s always battling a cold).
So, if you need ideas (books make great stocking fillers) then consider gifting The Search For Sanity to someone who would appreciate a few parenthood laughs, or sticking it on your wish list.
And if you would like a signed copy mailing to you then DM me.
It sounded too good to be true. And it was. How depressing is it when you’re outranked by a broken egg?
Anyone else experience similar treatment?

Presenting the 2023 Halloween hide-and-seek champion. This is what a pro-in-action looks like. Notice how he uses his surroundings to blend in, essentially making himself completely invisible! Impressing stuff.
I have committed to extra yoga classes to level up in this arena
Evening folks,
A few people have asked me about the audiobook for The Search for Sanity. I am happy to report that we have begun recording! I estimate it will be available in 2-3 months (worldwide).
In the meantime, Spotify decided to buy one of the biggest audiobook distributors in the market. As such, the rest of my books are available for free to Spotify Premium account holders. If you have a free account, you can still listen to all of my books, but you will have to pay for them. Outrageous, I know!

Evening folks,
I’ve had several requests for signed copies of The Search for Sanity.
So firstly, thanks a lot for the support - you can’t imagine what that’s like for me.
Secondly, if anyone else wants to jump on that bandwagon then please let me know. I can ship paperback and hardback copies - both of which make excellent Christmas presents, and also practice dart boards!
Thanks,
A huge thank you to everyone who sent me congratulatory messages today for the launch of my new book, The Search for Sanity.
Writing books requires me hiding under a rock most of the time, so to get so many digital pats on the back when I do occasionally come up for air and share something is bloody brilliant!
But tomorrow is a new day, which means I have a date with the laptop and early morning re-writes for the next book!
Speak soon,
Tom

Hi all,
I’ve been radio-silent for a while as I’ve been busy working on a lot of new projects, several of which I’ll be announcing over the next couple of weeks.
First up, a BIG ONE – I’m pleased to announce that my new book, The Search for Sanity: Life with a Two-Year-Old, will be available next week (Thursday, 19 October) worldwide in hardback, paperback and digital (audio to follow later).
Here’s the blurb:
Welcome to the terrible twos.
Where toddlers annihilate boundaries, convert your resolve into servitude and routinely imitate your worst qualities in public.
Join one father and his journal as he scribbles his way through this famously difficult stage of parenthood searching for a win, his keys and his sanity, while constantly fielding the question: ‘Yes, but why, Dadda?’
And here is what a few folks have to say:
‘Tom has the rare ability of capturing the true nature of parenthood’ —Neil Sinclair, AKA Commando Dad
‘Immediately engaging with genuine laugh-out-loud moments’ —Toddler About
‘Toddler storytelling at its best’ —The Modern Fatherhood Club
‘Sanity seekers unite! Embrace the toddler tornado with this gem’ —MANtenatal
‘When you think nothing sucks harder than a Henry Hoover, along come the terrible twos’ —(not so) Secret Dads Business
You can pre-order the eBook from Amazon here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Search-Sanity-Two-Year-Old-Adventures-Dadding-ebook/dp/B0CKTZP4D9/
And here is a master link to other retailers (note: many are still being updated): https://books2read.com/search-for-sanity
I swear this isn’t hyperbole when I say this is the best book I’ve written so far.
Hopefully, a few of you will join me along for the ride. You can download the first chapter from my website: https://tomkreffer.com/search-for-sanity

End-of-day nursery report: very good day!
If we replace melon for cereal brands then my childhood was similar to my sons.
Dirty socks tell me it’s been another great day at nursery!
Are you struggling to get your kids to sleep?
I recently sat down with Sam, a sleep consultant and founder of Sleep Solutions with Sam. We discuss how she got into the industry, how she works with parents and what you should watch out for when hiring a sleep consultant. It's a light read with minimal scientific fog.
Click the link in my bio to check it out.
There's also a link in the article to download (for free) my brand new guide: Sleep Guide for Dads - Mums; ignore the title; it's relevant to you as well.
