Part of our wake up call has do with the long love affair we have been having with the material world and it’s powerful influence on our ego sense of self. This is a world of competition in which we strive to become as smart as others who have achieved outward success, and importance on the basis of external values. In the Western world, having, doing, achieving are all unfortunately fodder for the ego sense of self importance; for feeling that he/she really matters in the greater scheme of things. It’s as though this is the only means by which we can feel a true sense of mattering and so this is the avenue that we tend to invest in, in order to succeed, make it in the world and feel good about ourselves. Why is achieving and external validation not enough? I'm interested in your comments!
Pollinating a new order of being came to me as a result of my response to the news of the honeybee colonies disappearing in the millions, not only from the United States, but from numerous countries all over the world, including China. My response was deep dismay that such a crisis could happen to our beloved honeybees that have gifted our planet with their unique and incredible services, without asking anything in return. Imagine, nothing! They are simply living out their brief mission of six weeks and then they are gone, only to allow the next generation to take over this incredible gift that has blessed our planet. We will use the honeybee as metaphor for CHANGE, TRANSFORMATION, AND EVOLUTION.
The honeybees exemplify cooperation, harmony and love. The honeybees stand for a community that works together for the highest purpose and benefit of all.
These little creatures who have graced our planet for more than 5o million years have brought their gifts to humankind in the way of honey and pollinating countless fruits and vegetables.
In addition, honeybees have something to teach mankind about working for the benefit of the greater hive upon which we all live.
