Just a Pair of Shoes recently visited Desoto Bass for a back to school event. The event went very well and we wish all the new students luck on this upcoming school year.

Our 5K Run was an incredible success, and we couldn’t have done it without all of you! Last year, we had 120 people sign up to help us provide shoes to kids in need. This year, we were thrilled to see 280 participants join us! The day went wonderfully, and we are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from our community.

In the past few weeks we covered 84 kids from
Bear Elementary and Kinder Elementary in Miamisburg.

Our official shirt design for the upcoming 5k fundraiser is here! Huge thanks to Alexa Lynn Scott for her incredible design for year #2. This design was inspired by the heartwarming story of Gage, a 4th-grade student whose vision of kindness won our hearts in 2023.

Gage was selected as one of the winning cleat designs last fall. The Just a Pair of Shoes team got to have lunch with all of the winners but when Gage was asked why he chose his design he said some students in his class were being mean to another student and Gage wished that they would just be kind.

Let's carry forward Gage's message and make a difference with our theme this year - "Just Be Kind." Join us in spreading love and support for our cause! 👟💙

What an incredible day at Central Elementary in Fairfield, Ohio! The mayor Mitch Rhodus was there to read a proclamation to the kids. He announced March 15th as Central Elementary day in the city of Fairfield and the kids thought it was awesome!

We were absolutely blown away by the unwavering support and remarkable unity displayed by this community. It was truly inspiring to witness.

Fairfield Central Elementary boasts exceptional leadership and goes above and beyond to nurture its students. Witnessing 127 kids receive brand new pairs of shoes was a heartwarming moment, made even more special by the presence of over 50 high school athletes and their coaches, who volunteered to help the young students try on their new Nike Shoes. While our usual goal is to assist around 50-60 kids per school, Central Elementary went above and beyond by seeking donations and securing sponsors for the remaining half, ensuring no 5th-grade student felt left out.

A special thanks to Ms. Terry for orchestrating this incredible initiative. On another note, we extend our best wishes to Fairfield native and Bearcats alum, Malik Vann, as he gears up for the upcoming NFL draft.

Last week at Northridge Local Schools, we had an extraordinary day filled with inspiration and excitement! Drew Olgetree graced us with his presence, igniting the spirits of the next generation.

We organized a thrilling race, with all the kids showcasing their new shoes. Drew generously signed footballs for the fastest boy and girl, spreading joy and motivation. Some kids even requested their shoes to be signed, and Drew happily obliged. The underlying message was clear: it's not the shoes that matter, but the journey they take you on.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to our dedicated volunteers, the high school students, and the incredible support from the Nick and Edna Weller Charities, Inc. Together, we made this day unforgettable for the students, reminding them that greatness is within reach when we believe in ourselves and support one another.

A day filled with excitement and joy as we delivered 65 pairs of Nike shoes to the wonderful students at Fairborn Primary School! Today we covered a school thanks to an Enterprise Mobility Road Forward Grant! But that's not all - Spiderman himself swung by to join in on the fun! 🕷️

Seeing the kids race around in their new kicks was true joy! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ And the cherry on top? The winner got a golden token for the Book Vending Machine - fostering a love for reading while rocking their stylish new shoes!

A massive shoutout to Be a Hero for bringing Spiderman to spread some extra cheer, and heartfelt thanks to Adam, Nick, and our friends at Frontier Technology for volunteering their time to make today unforgettable! Our design winners!

As you may know Just a Pair of Shoes opened a contest where students were given the chance to submit cleat designs for the NFL’s Cleats For A Cause. In 2023 we received over 500 submissions from a few different schools in the Dayton area. We are excited to announce that three students were selected and as part of their reward they were each given a new pair of Nike shoes along with having lunch with some of the our team.

We got to hear the reasons behind each students design. The students said it was really cool to see their design being on a pair of cleats and worn by Drew Ogletree in a December NFL game.

The 3 designs were:
1.) Drew’s Journey to the NFL.
2.) Be kind - Student that designed this wished some of his classmates would be more kind to others.
3.) Don’t Bully- Student designer said how much he disliked bullying.

The reaction speaks volumes! These students should be extremely proud! Thank you Northridge Local Schools for having us in to congratulate the winners.

We are excited to continue the contest for the 2024 season….stay tuned!

Our founder, Matt, was recently honored with the Graduate of the Last Decade Award from Wright State University. Matt had the chance to meet with Sue Edwards, President of WSU, who shares a passion for sneakers and deeply appreciates our mission. Sue understands the significance of a good pair of shoes, no matter your age.

A fun fact about President Edwards: she adores the comfort of Jordan 1 Lows and has multiple pairs of Jordan’s & LeBrons in her personal collection. We thank Sue for her enthusiasm for footwear and for supporting our organization! 👟 🙏

We had an incredible day in Piqua at our last event. It was a very important day as we honor a young man named Sean Brading that passed away last fall. Sean loved shoes and the way a new pair made him feel. 49 young students were able to experience the excitement of getting a new pair of kicks. A big thanks to the Piqua boys basketball team for being there and shooting hoops with the students after they put their new shoes on. It was truly amazing to see the Piqua City Schools and entire community come together during this event. We are excited to make this an annual event to honor Sean Brading and continue to make an unforgettable impact through sneakers. ❤️👟

An amazing day at East Elementary in Columbus.
Morris Home sponsored this event, giving 57 kids a brand new pair of Nike shoes. Brutus hyped all the kids up and really had the kids excited. Brutus the Buckeye had all the kids doing pushups at one point.
Huge thank you to Morris and their team! Also a big thank you to the 3 high school basketball teams that showed up to help volunteer.

Morris Furniture, United Way, Fairborn FISH partner to give beds to children Fairborn FISH, a group of people who wish to show their love and concern to our neighbors, has identified 31 children in Fairborn who are sleeping on the floor. Many of these families have been living in motels and recently were able to move into an apartment.

We recently took on our largest project ever!
Last week we visited Kiser Elementary and passed out 158 shoes to 4th and 5th grade students. There was an army of volunteers from numerous organizations and we couldn’t have made this day a success without all of you!
A lot of happy kids right before Christmas!

Dayton Public Schools

We are very excited to have finished a year long project. We give the opportunity for kids to design a pair of cleats for the NFL my cause my cleats campaign. Out of all the things these kids could have drawn on these cleats these three students selected what message they thought was most important.

This year 3 designs were chosen as an inspiration to creating a pair of cleats for 2016 Northridge grad Drew Olgetree. Drew plays tight end for the Indianapolis Colts.

The winners were two third grade students and an eighth grader from last year’s Just A Pair of Shoes Event at Northridge

The left cleat shines light on the statement to “Be Kind” while the rights pushes the message to “Don’t Bully”

The Inside of the cleats highlight Drew’s journey to the NFL and the importance of remembering where your journey started and the self confidence it takes to achive your dreams.
