The first year with a baby is the most challenging, exciting, fun, and exhausting year of your life.
I am dedicated to helping parents survive - and thrive - during this first year!
My greatest joy and the 4 things he’s obsessed with right now: screwdrivers, coloring, golf (& his dad), and kitties.
It was 18° yesterday but this nugget walks around saying “outside” all day and I eventually caved. This walk turned out to be pretty great until he fell in the snow and lost his mind 😂🙈
Still worth it though. Now I just have to convince myself to go outside in 2°😳
In the last year, we've lived in 3 different homes - Columbus, OH to Huntsville, AL and back to Columbus. Wow, what a whirlwind. A nice thing about this is that I've had the chance to change my playroom/nursery for T and his playspaces. In Columbus the first time, we had our main living space but T wasn't old enough to really be moving and getting into things, so it worked well as a yes space....

how to create a simple “yes” space for baby - Year One Mom A guide to creating a simple, minimal space for baby that won't have you constantly saying "NO".
This season truly is more magical through their eyes ♥️
baby acne can look SO painful. It’s very hard to look at and I felt self conscious letting anyone look at him, like I’d done it to him and somehow it was my fault. T had it SO BAD. Like so bad. It made me cringe. I freaked out, Googling like crazy. I read all kinds of things that made me incredibly confused and scared that it was only gonna get worse no matter what I did....

This picture makes me giggle 🙈😂
We went to a farm on Saturday on a whim. T got to touch a cow!! We had so much fun. 🐮🐑🐓
We were leaving the house and Nick said “he’s gotta take a nap in like an hour. Should we even go?” It took me a minute, but I felt like we should just do it. This is very unlike me to “wing it”, but I had a feeling it would be worth it.
When we got there, I saw a familiar face walking by me at the entrance. We caught up for a minute and ended up chatting the entire time we were there, met another family, and learned about their church.
Then yesterday, we drove down to Hilliard to try their church. And WOW. We loved it. We felt like we’d met the genuine, kind people of God that we have been praying for.
I am so thankful we went to that farm when we did. God is so faithful to provide what we need. I am so relieved and excited for what else He has in store for our family 💛
It’s wild to me how fast a day can go from really smooth to a total train wreck…
For example, when your baby won’t go to sleep and you realize after 30 minutes that it’s because he pooped AGAIN 🙈
so you change him and reset him, only for him to keeeeep yellllinnggggg at you
And here we are, reminding ourselves that it doesn’t have to ruin the whole day. Some days are hard. Some days I feel like a complete failure. Other days I feel awesome, even when I mess up.
Isn’t motherhood a party?!
LOL
Okay I guess I better go get him now
this guy ate *almost* an entire apple all by himself today.
I got the kids snacking apples from Costco because he LOVES them. If I’m eating one and he sees, he will chase me around and scream until I share 🙈😂 his new skill is holding the whole thing and taking bites like a real human 😭😭
Seeing T become more independent every day is both my favorite and least favorite thing at the same time 💛
I'm so glad we don't remember what teething feels like. I mean, can you seriously imagine the feeling of teeth sprouting through your gums? No thank you. I get a toothache for a minute and it feels like my jaw is falling off and my head is going to explode. I do not want to remember bones coming through my gums....

how to move with a baby (and not hate it) - Year One Mom We’ve moved twice already in 2021 – from Ohio to Huntsville, AL and back to Columbus 🙈 it took us 3 months to decide we …
Moving to Huntsville from Columbus and back again in 3 months gave me whiplash 🤪
In general, moving is stressful. But add in a baby? In the car? For 10 hours??? Woof. 😳
I did it twice. In 3 months. Yes, it was crazy. But I learned SO MUCH.
some things I’m really glad I did- like creating a similar naptime routine for T in the car (he slept pretty great!) and there are many others that I wish I would’ve done better.
For example, I should’ve started packing waaayyyyyyy earlier 😂 my friends and family can attest that I ALWAYS underestimate how long something is going to take. Definitely learned my lesson there.
