Wisdom is not using your strength at every war.

Wisdom is knowing which wars are worth your strength.

Feelings are something we all have and must learn to manage.

Reading stories about feelings helps children understand how they feel.
It also helps them to know their feelings are valid.

Observing their reaction to expressions of emotion in a story can help parents identify what emotions their children need help managing.

Our short rhyming story, “Perry the Pup,” is filled with events that deal with emotions. It teaches children that although their feelings are valid, sometimes our feelings get in the way of the outcome we seek.

In “Perry the Pup,” Perry loses his favorite toy bone and is anxious to find it. His anger and anxiety lead him on a never-ending search for his bone. After no luck with finding it, Perry’s pal expresses the importance of calmness and patience when searching for things.

Will the advice Perry’s pal gave him help Perry find his bone?

There is only one way to find out.

HAPPY Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Day

“If you can't fly then run,
if you can't run then walk,
if you can't walk then crawl,
but whatever you do,
you have to keep moving forward.”

Despite what many people may think, children’s picture books are for EVERYONE. They are especially enjoyed by children and elderly adults who depend on these stories to mentally explore new places.

Studies have proven the earlier babies are introduced to reading, the greater the chance they will perform better academically. Studies have also shown that reading to the elderly improves their brain function and helps to prevent cognitive decline.

There is something about children’s picture books that strengthen and also reset the mind.

Today, take a moment to reset. Get lost in a children’s picture book.

National Hot Tea Day couldn't have come at a better time! The weatherman says we may be getting some much-needed snow in the upstate. Although it's too early to confirm whether or not it’s going to snow, I have my fingers crossed. Nothing completes the winter like a few inches of snow.

Even Marley and Patrice know snow makes the winter complete.

A good book and a hot cup of tea by the fire on a cold snowy day sounds satisfying.

Hop over to Amazon to purchase the short, rhyming love story of two best friends, “Fall in Love.” Experience the excitement of the many adventures they shared throughout the fall and winter seasons.

So many things are nationally celebrated today, but I decided to celebrate, “Step in a Puddle and Splash Your Friend's Day.”

I’m sure it’s not raining across the world today, so if the needed conditions do not prevail near you, fill your buckets.

Sometimes we have to create the opportunities we seek.

Gear up in your raincoats and boots and go splash away.

Along with fun, puddle splashing has proven to be a stress reliever. Stomp away every stressful experience you have packed away.

Be creative, have fun, and most importantly be safe!

Meet my little splashers, Marley and Patrice. Once your splashing is complete, wind down with your favorite snack and blanket. Allow your imagination to carry you along the adventures of these besties in my short rhyming story, “Fall in Love.”

We all have our favorite “something,” whatever that “something” is.
In observance of National Bittersweet Chocolate Day, I'd like to share my favorite dark chocolate. My favorite dark chocolate is 72%, Ghirardelli. I didn't begin eating dark chocolate until late 2019 and I love it so much, I just can’t stop eating it.

My love for dark chocolate allows me to relate to Perry’s situation with his favorite toy bone.
I understand why Perry was in a frenzy about losing his favorite toy bone in the short rhyming story, “Perry the Pup.”
It's like having Ghirardelli Chocolate and not knowing where it is.

HAPPY NATIONAL SMITH Day

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS IT ANYWAY?!

NSD was founded by Adrienne Sioux Koopersmith in 1994

Smith is a surname originating in England and Ireland.

Nearly three million people in the United States have the surname Smith, and it is the most common English-speaking name in the world.

"Smith" means "worker."

Smith derived from the Anglo-Saxon smitan, meaning "to smite or strike.” Smith is an occupational name for a man who works with metal (smith or blacksmith), one of the earliest jobs for which specialist skills were required.

People took on names relating to their job during the Anglo-Saxon period. Said names were not passed down to their sons. During slavery in the United States and United Kingdom, many slaves took on the name of their masters. As a result, 'Smith' is still common among some African Americans today.

Smith is the most common last name in the United States, followed by Johnson, Miller, Jones, Williams, and Anderson, according to genealogy company

When you hear Smith, you may think about the actor, rapper, and media personality, Will Smith or singer and songwriter Sam Smith.

Patti Smith is also a famous Smith who's a singer-songwriter, musician, author, and poet.

‼️Support childhood literacy‼️

Being both a children’s custom designer and a children’s author, I’ve noticed more parents prepare for their children’s birthdays and other events more than they prepare for their children to have a successful future.

What can we do to change that?
We can encourage them to take action by providing the pros and cons, but those are things most parents are already aware of. We can’t just hope for a great outcome, we must do the legwork.

The bottom line is many have fallen in love with the image of a beautiful lifestyle, rather than actually doing the work to create the life they want. Most parents leave everything educational up to their children’s teacher, neglecting to realize they are their child’s first teacher and possibly their child’s biggest influence.

You must do the work to get the real results.

Ask yourself, are you doing it for the image, or are you doing it to create the lifestyle the image portrays?

We can’t leave it up to children to know how to become successful. We must have a plan for them. The end result depends on how they apply it, but we must give them the “it” to apply.

If we do all we can to guide them in the right directions, and they still go astray, we can find solace in knowing we’ve put forth our best effort. The next step is to continue to hope and pray what we’ve taught them becomes the breadcrumbs to guide them back on the right track.

Plan the birthday party, but don’t forget to plan for future success as well. Your child will thank you!

It starts while the child is in the womb. Read to them. Talk to them. Sing to them.

When is the best time to start planning? Yesterday! And if you didn’t start yesterday, you are already a day late.

Starting today is better than not starting at all. Your child’s future depends on it.

It’s not enough to give your children the lifestyle you never had. You must also provide them with the tools to create that lifestyle.

Spoiling the child without teaching them how to maintain that lifestyle is the biggest recipe to disaster.

Dressing children nicely isn’t enough. Buying them all the latest items isn’t enough. It is what you instill in them that matters most.

What are your thoughts on this topic?

“Sharing is caring”

The idea of sharing is difficult for many children to grasp because they have not developed empathy. Although it’s not mandatory for children to share, sharing is an important life skill. It teaches children the good aspects of sacrifice, compromise, and kindness. Sharing also introduces children to negotiation. Sharing helps build relationships and enhances the ability to work well with others. Children aren’t always compelled to share. It’s up to parents to introduce and encourage sharing.

“A Tutu for Me” is a beautiful short story that introduces sharing/gifting.

We’re certain you and your child will love this short story about two friends, Marley and Patrice, sharing adventures through town together.
In this story, Marley's mom makes tutus for ballerinas. She makes Marley a tutu every Sunday from the scrap material after she finishes her weekly orders. Patrice feels left out because Marley always wears a tutu to town. Patrice asks Marley if she can have the next tutu her mom makes, so they could go to town in tutus together. Marley is excited each time she gets a new tutu and refuses to give one away.

Will Marley change her mind and share her next tutu with her friend, Patrice?

Marley’s mom introduces sharing when she encourages Marley to give Patrice a tutu of her favorite color.

How to make sharing easy for your child? Don’t force your child to share, yet teach them through love.

You can find “A Tutu for Me” on Amazon or at the website below. HAPPY findings.

Should you read to your unborn baby?

The gift of carrying a tiny life inside you is one of the most beautiful things that can happen. Mothers, take advantage of pregnancy by bonding with your unborn child. Talk to them. Sing to them. Read to them. They can hear you. They can feel the love associated with the way you communicate with them.

Talking, and singing helps you connect with your little one. Reading to them helps their brain development. Reading also introduces them to language, oftentimes making it easy to understand sooner.

Infants' attention span is short, so start by reading short stories and as their attention span develops, you can slowly increase the story time.

In early pregnancy my favorite stories to read were those with rhythm and rhyme. Although your unborn child can’t enjoy the wonderful pictures in picture books, he/she can experience the art of story time through rhythm and rhyme.

As an adult, we have learned that the foundation is the most important part of the building process. Reading to your unborn child is laying the foundation for a great start.

As parents, we realize our babies won’t be babies forever and we want the best for our child. Prepare for tomorrow, today. Pick up the book. Introduce your unborn child to story time, then continue the trend once they’re born.

Try reading the same book multiple times, then pass the book to your little one and let him/her read it back in babble. Even with the book upside down, it’s such a cute moment to embrace. You can enjoy cute moments, bond, and help with development all in the same setting. What a great gift. It’s definitely a gift that will never stop giving.

Studies have proven the earlier babies are introduced to reading, the greater the chance they will perform better academically.

A rhyming story sharing the adventures of two best friends during fall. This story highlights the holidays many of us celebrate and the many different memories we create throughout fall. This story is one to spark the imagination and introduce children to rhythm and rhyme, while teaching the many beautiful changes of fall.

No plot: sometimes it’s good to kickback and enjoy a book you don’t have to dig deep to understand

“Fall in Love,” was written to fuel the imagination and ignite hope. Being hopeful helps us wish for the best outcome in the worst situations. When writing “Fall in Love,” I wasn’t looking to reach everyone. I was looking for it to reach the children that would appreciate it most, rather minimal or plenty. I wanted it to reach children similar to the child I was. The child that preferred books of rhythm and rhyme or picture books.

This book is perfect for toddlers. The age limit is 2-8, but we have found that children of all ages enjoy reading, “Fall in Love.” I’m sure you, as a parent, will enjoy it as well.
