School's Not Quite Out

School's Not Quite Out

My goal is to provide parents with grade appropriate work for their children in a variety of subjects. How you work with your child at home is up to you.

You know your child best.

School's Not Quite Out Home schooling is hard. I was extremely disappointed with the elementary resources recently provided by the province. They were not nearly sufficient. So, I decided to provide an alternate solution.

Descriptive feedback is the most important part of learning. Children need to know that they have done some things well, but that there is always ways to improve. Work done without feedback provides little growth opportunities.

Home schooling is hard. I was extremely disappointed with the elementary resources recently provided by the province. They were not nearly sufficient. So, I decided to provide an alternate solution.

I am an elementary school teacher and tutor with over 20 years of experience who would like to offer you a service to help your children. I can provide your child with a reading, writing, math, and one other activity to complete each day. I will give a video lesson to explain each activity.

The best part is that feedback on their work will be provided. I will let them know what they have done well, and what they need to do to make their work better.

This service is a cross between homeschooling and private tutoring. Parent support is needed, but instructions will be clear and students should be able to complete most activities independently. Work assigned will use a variety of formats including video, Google Docs and Slides, and PDFs. All Google files will need to either be printed and filled in with a pencil, or a copy of the file can be made for your child to complete online. PDF files need to be printed and filled in with a pencil. Work to be assessed can be submitted electronically by sharing files, scanned, or taking a picture of the work.
