Simba’s bloodwork came back ok! Since he has been on Denamarin since this happened, the Dr does want to do one more round of bloodwork after it has cleared his system just to be sure ithe med wasn’t masking anything. We have an appt on Aug. 24th for that and as long as that is good then he is officially in the clear! This all points to an ingestion of something toxic. The scary part is having NO idea what it may have been in order to prevent it from happenimg again😣

As expected, much unlike Daisy, Simba had zero fear of the little Mexican guy statues😂 He checked them out thoroughly.

Update: we will get the results on Tues when Dr. Keenan is back in. Simba got to experience his first ambulance up close (someone was having a medical emergency in the parking lot) & then we went to Petsmart and he helped us pick out a new tower for his kitty. He behaved much better than we expected! He was very perplexed by the reflection of the ambulance lights on the wall inside the vet office☺️ We got him a big cookie at Petsmart for being the goodest boy. Daddy also shared his crepe with him.

On the way for a quick stop at Lisa’s for crepes and then Simba’s follow-up bloodwork… his ear is itching right now so one is a little crooked☺️

Somebody is happy to be headed home

Simba gets to come home today. His ALT has dropped by 200 which was way better than the Dr had expected! The working theory is still that he possibly ingested some toxin, maybe a mushroom??? There is one liver enzyme that has mysteriously elevated a bit today, while the 2 others dropped. Bloodwork will be run again in a week & if levels are still elevated then we will be referred to Auburn.

Simba is currently hospitalized. He went outside for a few minutes this morning, came back in, started snuggling against daddy’s leg obviously not feeling well, ears down. Then started wretching, went back out & barfed, then laid in the yard for a few mins with a very sad face. Wouldn’t drink water or eat anything. Came back in acting frantic, whining & crying & started rubbing his face on the floor. By this point I was calling vets. We drove over an hour to his vet & he became sort of lethargic as we drove. Just as we got there he finally started to drink water & eat treats. At first we thought maybe he got some of the permethrin bug spray I had just sprayed on the threshhold on his snout. I brought the bottle with me & vet said it was such a low concentration that it was of no concern. Maybe he got a big sniff of it & didn’t like the taste so barfed & then maybe it made his face a little itchy. He seemed a bit less lethargic so Dr told us we could take him home & monitor at home. I asked for blood work before we left just to ease my mind. Good thing I did. His ALT (liver) was 964 which Dr said is “off the charts”. One other was slightly elevated. He now thinks Simba may have ingested some toxin such as a mushroom or toxic plant. If not that, possibly something like an infection or tumor affecting his liver😩 They did charcoal, antibiotic (tamping down stomach bacteria will take load off his kidneys Dr said), and Denamarin. They are keeping him on fluids overnight. If his bilirubin doesn’t show improvement in the morning we will be trying to get him into Auburn for imaging & possible liver biopsy. Wish us luck!🥺

Had to invest in some new tennis balls today since our resident lake monster swallowed Simba’s ball the other day. Now Tater thinks they are all his😂

Daisy seems like she hasn’t been feeling well lately and I had a hunch that it might be because she has had full access to the litterbox in the new house😣 We keep it in the laundry room and have not wanted to put a gate in that hallway since it is such a tight space already. I ordered this cat door from Home Depot and the hubs just installed it. It has already paid off!

**URGENT!! 7 week old babies need foster homes this weekend!!**

We have posted these pups when they were much younger and we only had one foster home for them, which fell through today!

Their dad is a yellow lab and their momma is a pitbull/chihuahua mix. They will need foster homes for 4-5 weeks while we look for forever homes for them! **If you are taking a weekend trip we usually have a weekend foster or two who can help while you are gone!!**

We are looking for loving homes where they can stay until they can move into full time homes. Due to their age, they should stay in pairs or more to continue to learn how to socialize and play properly.

If you can foster please apply here:

https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/foster/FAY/Dog

**We supply all medical needs, food, and supplies for the fosters!**

Requirements for Fostering a Puppy:
-All fosters must meet all adoption requirements.
-Pets in the home must be up to date on vet care- spayed/neutered, up to date on core vaccines and on heartworm/flea/tick preventions.
-Fosters must live within a reasonable driving distance of Fayetteville/Peachtree City/Senoia.
-Foster family must be able to transport pet to vet clinics in Fayette County area either for scheduled appointments or as needed for emergencies.
-Fosters should be able to transport the foster puppies to Peachtree City Petsmart adoptions on select Saturdays once the puppies are old enough.
-Puppy foster families should be home frequently during the day since babies need to be taken out frequently. Even stopping by during a lunch break is good for many pups!

Dinner downtown at Karvelas last night and made it home in time to take the pups on a sunset cruise. They did well for their 2nd time!

Update: we will be returning it. Not comfortable at all. You can feel the frame in-between the cushions & the seat decking is way too stiff. Not nearly enough stuffing in the cushions or around the frame. Very disappointing as I had really wanted a fully washable sofa😩

Testing the Anabei sofa…
