Each year, students across the country submit artwork, poetry and essays to the Legion National Foundation’s Annual Poster and Literary Contest. This year, the Canadian War Museum is proud to exhibit the winning entries — eight posters and two literary pieces.
This poster is by Isabelle Barnes, from Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador. She was the winner in the category Senior - Black and White Poster. Find the exhibition in the CWM's lobby, near the gift shop.

The photo of her with the tulips is from the Star Phoenix, May 1950, although I found the same photo in issues of other papers in 1946.
Information from David O'Malley's post. (Thank you.)
Thank you to Stephanie Allen for the photos commemorating Florence May Fowler, CWAC.

Florence is buried in the Clarkson (Springcreek) Cemetery. Stephanie said someone had put a poppy on the grave marker!

Anne Gafiuk is a former elementary school teacher in Calgary, Alberta who turned to freelance writing. During her research into WWII RCAF pilots for a fictional story, she became very interested in vintage aircraft, the people involved with them and their history, taking her on a new flight of discovery.
She is the author of three books: Wings Over High River, December 2012, She Made Them Family, November 2015, and Quietus: Last Flight, November 2017, all published by the Bomber Command Museum of Canada.
