It's truly fantastic to witness such a vibrant turnout today! The PMC, or any charitable event involving physical dedication, extends far beyond the actual ride itself. Many participants invest their efforts in year-round training to be fully prepared. If you have the ability, please extend support by helping participants fulfill their fundraising obligations. Your act of kindness holds immeasurable significance to these warriors! https://profile.pmc.org/TT0240

Why I Ride ... To find a cure! 12/06/2022

Team 3G is a cycling family. We happen to have the amazing Chinitz family within the 3G family. Five Chinitz family members have committed to raising $30,000 for the Pan Mass Challenge in 2022. They really need our support! If you’re in the giving mood, please consider donating to any Chinitz family member. And, Taylor Chinitz just celebrated her second cancerversary so let’s toss out some love for Taylor! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Happiest of Labor Day weekends. May you joyfully celebrate the fruits of your labor.

A sharp turn for food trucks - The Boston Globe 19/08/2021

Philanthropy takes a village… 30 riders plus a support crew of 8 = a lot of food! Our motto is GO BIG or GO HOME! So we went BIG! Team 3G wants to thank Avi, of The Chubby Chickpea Truck for driving all the way from Sharon to Centerville to feed our team! It was amazing and we loved every bite!

A sharp turn for food trucks - The Boston Globe Spring is a big season for the food truck business, a time to recover from the slow, cold winter. So when COVID-19 hit in March 2020, the timing couldn’t have been worse. Now, a year and a half later, food trucks are still trying to find their way forward.

This group of 30 riders officially hit $300k in total fundraising! Holy moly! And guess what? We’re not done yet! We have 3Gers tackling the traditional PMC routes this weekend, including 10 riders taking on the new Wellesley century. Applause all around. It’s well deserved! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

This weekend, we ride. We ride for all who are suffering, for those who have overcome their own battle, and in memory of those who have lost their fight. We pedal all year long, we ask and ask for support and then hope our collective effort and donated dollars will help the DFCI doctors find a cure. What do we get at the end of 164 miles? A rock. And WE LOVE our PMC rocks. Cheers to a safe and enjoyable ride Team 3G!

WHY I PMC - By Liv Nash - 15 year PMC Participant and Team 3G member

“Over the past 15 years I’ve either ridden or volunteered for the PMC because I don’t want anyone to ever have to hear the words: you have cancer. Sunday was Mother’s Day, and I had the joy of being with my own mother who was diagnosed with breast cancer in her 90’s. Thank G_d she is ok, and I attribute that to the research and advances that have been made in the fight against cancer. As a mom and wife, I also ride for my husband and children.

I love being on my bike and spending time with my fellow team members and friends. We ride to exercise, to be together and because we enjoy each other’s company, but we also share this higher purpose and why we all PMC together.”

In 2019, Thoracic Oncology WAS NOT on this DFCI wheel. We questioned what it would take to get there and the number was $800k. One year later, WE MADE THE PIE CHART! Team 3G helped make this happen! Thank you to all of our donors who believe in this team and our mission. We could not have done this with out your support!

Why We PMC - Team 3G Riders - Bourne Bridge, MA

On July 18th 2020, this group of Team 3G riders tackled a century (plus) ride in 95 degree heat and humidity. In this photo - Robert Sheiffer, Marc Cohen, Scott Weiss, Roy Barr and John Speyer (walking their bikes over the Bourne Bridge - no riding allowed on the bridge).

This ride was originally created by Scott Weiss and Robert Sheiffer in 2016. Five years later, they are still doing it! Why? Why I PMC - by Michele Rosenthal - 11 year PMC and Team 3G rider

I PMC because those who I used to spin with and have now become dear friends encouraged me to ride 12 years ago! I first joined as a volunteer and quickly bought my first and only road bike to begin my riding adventure in preparation for the following year. I clipped in for the first time and started training the July before my first PMC 11 years ago! I have successfully completed 10 PMCs and I am just as excited and nervous as I was during my first ride in preparation for year 11!

As a higher education administrator and College and Cancer Coach, I have witnessed what successful treatment means. I have learned about the impact of the dollars we raise and the lives we touch.

Each year I am overwhelmed by the stories that are shared on the signs that supporters hold as they cheer on PMC riders. Each year I am impressed and hopeful by the research that I learn about from the Dana-Farber Scientists, Researchers and Doctors who benefit from our fundraising.

I PMC because I can, because I am motivated to leverage my experience and eradicate this insidious disease. And this year I PMC for Team 3G and Team Captain Amy Fradkin who encouraged me to PMC 12 years ago! I PMC for Amy and Gregg...I will PMC in rain, or shine or reimagined 🚴‍♀️

Why I PMC - by Madalyn Levy - 10 year volunteer and first year Team 3G Virtual Rider

I watched my cousin Amy ride the PMC for about 7 years and decided I wanted in! I’m not a cyclist, but I knew I could help in some way, so I chose to volunteer. For the past ten years I’ve been registering riders in Sturbridge, and after the opening ceremonies, I head to Bourne so I can greet and register riders after the first day of the ride. I truly am in awe of the riders and their tremendous commitment to fighting cancer. I’m blessed to have a large family and fortunate that many of my cousins have joined me by volunteering in Bourne. Last year alone, over a dozen of my family members participated and anxiously waited for our cousin Amy to cross the finish line!

This year Amy’s husband Gregg was diagnosed with cancer. She created Team 3G and I knew I’d be a volunteer AND sign up to be virtual rider (fundraiser). I officially joined her team and am participating in the planning of the team's reimagined ride. I’m not sure exactly what I will be doing but I know I will once again be there to support the riders any way I can. This is one of my favorite activities each year and I’ll be counting down the number of “sleeps” before this group hits the road. I am fully committed and this is why I PMC!

Why WE PMC - It Takes a Village!

Last Friday, Billy Starr gathered over 230 Pan Mass Challenge team captains on a Zoom call and delivered the message we’ve all been dreading... the PMC 2020 “ride” would be canceled. Although it was expected, there was much sadness, and yes, tears were shed.

Billy offered a very clear message, “Commit, You’ll Figure It Out”. This vision IS the PMC and although the PMC may not be what we imagined, we are still committed and we WILL figure it out.

The PMC’s mission is simple - raise as much money as possible for cancer research, period. 3G set a goal to raise $200,000 in 2020. We are still committed to this goal and we will ride in a reimagined manner. It might be a virtual indoor ride, many solo rides or even a long, socially distanced ride. No matter what form our rides take, we will show up for the challenge!

This crew gathered tonight to brainstorm for PMC 2020. We are very excited by this new challenge and look forward to rolling out our reimagined PMC! Let’s go! 👏🏻 Let’s go! 👏🏻 Let’s go! 👏🏻

Team 3G LOVE ❤️❤️ Highlighting the Best of Humanity

PMC love comes in many different forms. Sue Giaconia is a Team 3G rider; Joanne Arnish is a 17 year PMC and 3G supporter; Carolyn Arnish is a 17 year PMC and 3G supporter and local compounding pharmacist. They have all been working hard to produce face masks and sanitizer for front line medics, pharmacists, COVID & cancer patients (and their families). Team 3G truly thanks you all for the time, energy and effort you’ve exerted to mix, cut, sew, distribute and donate in order to keep us safe during these extraordinary times. You are our angels.

Why I PMC - by DJ Fradkin - Multi Year PMC Volunteer and 3G Supporter

3G is my dad and my best friend. I cherish the moments we spend together. I miss going out and getting sushi and a beer or pounding out a Netflix binge. I can’t do any of these things with him right now because of his compromised immune system and susceptibility to COVID-19. Since February 28th, I have only been able to FaceTime my dad. This is precious time we’ll never get back. I want my dad to live more than 1 year, 5 years or 10 plus years. This is why I PMC, support my mom’s ride and cheer her on in her endless pursuit to help my dad live as long as possible. Love you 3G

Why I PMC - By Richard Aronheim - 17 year PMC volunteer, 2011 rider and Team 3G supporter

I PMC because I love my family. My family means the world to me. I lost my brothers Bob and Russell to pancreatic & esophageal cancer. The work of the PMC and the Dana Farber helps me honor their memory and fight for a cure that took their lives. My son-in-law Gregg, who is truly a son to me, is fighting late stage lung cancer. My daughter Amy has been riding the PMC for 17 years and this year she started her own team, Team 3G in support of Gregg. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for Amy, Gregg and my grandchildren DJ and Alec. I love my family.

The PMC is just under 5 months away and Billy Starr's latest email suggests the PMC is still scheduled for August 🤞🏻. Many of us are holding off on outside training in groups, but I hope you are able to do some outdoor or indoor training on your own. I also want to let everyone know about ways we can all stay connected together, motivate each other and clock our miles and workouts online.

Strava for Team3G
https://www.strava.com/clubs/Team3G

Strava is an easy to use online social fitness network. The above link will take you to a Strava page created for Team3G riders and friends of Team3G riders. Here we can see each other's profiles and training we log such as gym classes, swimming sessions, indoor cycling and eventually outdoor cycling rides. If you already are on Strava, I can invite you to join or you can join the team yourself. If you don't have an account, it's simple and free to start and use one. Let us know if we can help with that if you are interested.

Until that outdoor day comes, let's stay safe where ever your days take you. To quote our amazing Amy: "We never give up! We just shift and persevere! We are Team 3G, we are the PMC and here for our loved ones no matter what!"

See you on the virtual road,

Robert Sheiffer

Why I PMC - by Marc Cohen - 17 year PMC and 3G rider

“I ride in the PMC because cancer has taken from me, too many people that have been near and dear to me. My life has been diminished by their absence and so I feel it is critical that I do everything that I can to make sure that we are able to help people overcome this disease, support our researchers so that they can stay ahead of the illness, and do what I can so that others can live lives as fully and as undiminished as possible.”

I PMC because I want to honor and support my sister Barbara.
