So it has been super busy with us in the farm recently, some of the cows we look after over the winter are currently calving and while most calve all by themselves there are the odd one that needs a little help.
Our sheep are lambing also right now and so far it is going well.
Lots of late night/early morning checks fir all the 4 legged’s and plenty coffee fir us humans.
What a cracker of a spring morning ☀️🌱
It’s always one of my favourite jobs checking the livestock on a morning like this.
The young crew are enjoying the sun on their backs adapting to life without their mums.
I am super lucky to be able to get to know them all a bit more because the numbers are not so high that I only have time for the basics, this definitely helps when I need to handle them all.
At Ardersier Mains Farm the pigs and Highlsnd cattle are actually only a small bit to the farm.
We also have cattle staying over the winter months with us (B&B Cow style), some of the cattle we have at the moment are currently calving. We along with the daily care of feeding and bedding these cows now have to keep a close eye on them and help the cows if they need a little help with the calving. Bellow are a couple of cute pictures.
We also have a small flock of sheep due to lamb at the beginning of April….watch this pace for some updates.
Junior not so chuffed with his afternoon snack 🤣
Some of our young Highlanders leaving there mums today and going out to grass by themselves for the first time. The weather has been lovely and their mums need a rest before they calve again….think this young crew are delighted to be flying solo 😃
Junior our bull enjoying the sun on his back today and Spud the daddy pig excited for dinner.
Another busy day on the farm today mucking out one of the cattle sheds ready for the expectant mummies 🐮
So tasty our slowly produced Highland Beef 😋
