As some deep seated emotions and events from the past have resurfaced for me— I find it quite coincidental that it’s the eve of the anniversary of my deeply personal and transparent EP, the Emancipation of Queen Heather, some of which the content is related to these resurfaced feelings. The name of the title is not one of arrogance but of remembering and loving and recognizing mySelf. The writing of these songs was extremely cathartic for me and listening now reminds me of WHO I AM. Thank you God, for keeping me here. May I be useful, somehow.

Whenever I start to feel lost— like the ground beneath me isn’t real and I can’t see anything— I remember I’m not dwelling in the present moment— which is all that exists. No wonder I’m feeling vulnerable whilst dwelling on the past or projecting too much into the future. This is when I know I need to either, deepen my practice or come back to my dedicated practice. My blessed yogasana always brings me back to now. 🤲🏼🫶🏼✌🏼

When was the last time you just turned your phone off, took off your shoes and walked out in nature (did you know that when you put your bare feet on the earth your body actually produces antioxidants?!! Miracle!) and just paused to wonder at your surroundings? I promise it’s a worthwhile reset. And when was the last time you heard a good ballad?? I adapted and rearranged this beautiful Rodgers and Hammerstein song, A Hundred Million Miracles from the musical Flower Drum Song, for Pop Music, because I was compelled to bring the very simplistic yet very powerful message forward to this generation. It’s a reminder to us ALL. I’m not trying to be cool and get you dancing (listen to Made You Look for that!). This one did something to my heart— to my awareness. I hope it does yours too. And of course I had to work with the *brilliant* producer and all-around musician . He gets me. I’m not sure if I can even make music without him. Lol. And this time around I was blessed to work with the amazing , my cousin, on all the artwork and visuals. I need her forever. The artistic process with her, changed me. And huge shout out to for the gorgeous photos!! He always capture the moment, the lighting, the feel. SO plug in long enough to download my song, then unplug, take off your shoes and go for a walk with this message in your heart. Or just play it as you go about your ordinary day haha which is what it’s really about— ordinary everyday miracles that we don’t usually see as miracles. It will lift you. Gathering captures of moments I might otherwise breeze by… I choose to see the wonder and potential for miracles. I literally almost walked over this gorgeous little web in the grass… I mean just look at that!! The symmetry, the sacred geometry, the intricacy… ✨ how about the moment I looked down at my cutting board and saw the heart that formed out of the way I gathered the chopped veggies, completely inadvertently. It feels much better to view things this way, and trust me I’ve viewed things differently in the past (ok yesterday lol). It’s intentional at first… and then the wonder comes like a flood! I’m not ignoring the suffering and pain in my life and in others— it’s more like mitigation for me.

I’m not tryna parade myself or boast with my posts, pics and projects. But I will not apologize for celebrating myself and my accomplishments, especially the ones where I did it ALL BY MYSELF. The Lone Ranger. The lone cheerleader. I’ve been to HELL AND BACK! And where were you, oh you who judge, when I was dying? And now after death and rebirth to be standing in my own power… to be still standing at all… and making music after I’ve been burnt and shut down in this atmosphere so many times… and now as my authentic Self… the one who always knew that I could execute my artistic visions… the one who doesn’t give a f* if other people approve… is a literal MIRACLE (new single tease…). I’m not waiting for permission any longer to artistically express myself. I will never seek that permission ever again from anyone, except from my Maker. I found that with so many other voices around, it’s easy to miss that One. I’ve found that listening to the voices around you, paying attention to the sneers, can cause you to lose yourself. Listen to the voice inside. Shut out the haters and naysayers. Love yourself. BE love to others.
