It’s probably why I’m living being a coach, amongst other reasons.

Such a proud and happy day for me!

It wasn’t an easy decision to make though!

I do wish I’d been motivated before and not by the worst of circumstances a son can find himself in but..

When dad got really poorly and it sank in that he wasn’t gonna be around in a future waaaaay closer than I’d ever imagined.

I was moved to prove to him that I was gonna be ok, to let him know i was gonna make moves to be the successful and proud guy he could always see in me that I couldn’t!

I didn’t believe I could achieve great things!

The bullying I received from the teachers alone as I grew up had kinda beaten that out of me, but he never stopped seeing greatness in me!

I jumped into a college course as a mature student as I had to prove I could learn at academic level and had to get my English GCSE.

I smashed it and was accepted into UWE for a BSc in Audio and Music technology.

I had achieved one of the many many things I’d written off ever being able to achieve and proved to myself that there are possibilities above and beyond your own expectations!

If you believe in yourself the way others do.

Sadly Dad didn’t get to see me wearing this rather silly hat, but he was with me every step of the way and is a constant whisper of motivation in my ear when I have a wobble of confidence!

If the bone idle, riff raff, bottom set day dreamer who felt like the harder he tried the worse the outcome can achieve a degree… what else can I achieve 🫶

Don’t let shade from others control your narrative peeps!

You are the person behind the wheel of your personal journey!

If you want to do, don’t let people convince you that you can’t! Don’t let it in!

You are the one and only, super, awesome, uniquely amazing you and I want you to know that you’ve got this! Especially when it feels like you haven’t.

What a beautiful juxtaposition from yesterday!!

6 days after the event and I’m still getting DMs and comments about my set at the ADRENALINE STOMPERS FESTIVAL

Kudos to Chris Freeman for putting on the event of the year and the rest of the team involved with the event, and I mean the whole team:
Promotions
Security
Bar Staff
Build and design
Sound installs

All of them pulled no punches to deliver the best Hard Dance event I’ve been to in over a decade and one of the best sets I have ever played!

If you feel like sending a DJ a message like this, don’t hold back!
A message like this means more to me than you could possibly imagine! I wanna say who it was but I have to be careful on social media!
I hope you see this and know how deeply I felt every word of this!

Last Saturday I graced the stage with a DJ I have followed since the 90s, been inspired by and in awe of for a very long time!

They say you shouldn’t meet your hero’s!

But being on stage with this utterly beautiful and respectful human who I had conceded I wouldn’t have the opportunity to play with, reminded me of how absolutely fantastic some people are!

This message, this morning, has just poured a shot of petrol on the flame in my soul from the memory of Saturday evening 🫶

I do so love waking up to comments about my mentorship program being a scam or a waste of time 🤦‍♂️

One of the main comments to follow an opening line like:
- This is a scam,
- Nobody needs this
- Why would anybody listen to this

Is the best DJs learnt it themselves
Or
I taught myself how to do it…

I am asking for everybody who reads this to answer in the comments below.

Today is a big day for me for many reasons!

One of the highlights for me is seeing one of my graduates up on stage as a finalist in the DJ competition!

It’s only freaking rave day 🫶

To say I’m excited about today would be the understatement of the century 😲

As a DJ there are events that stand out, there are sets that will stay with me forever.

I can remember interacting with complete strangers, sharing moments on the dance floor being completely enveloped in the euphoria and stimulation of the music.

But this one, this one is already starting to tickle my spidey senses!

Playing back to back tomorrow with my hombre Wolfy, one of my graduates is in the final of the competition and then on Saturday, the set of my career that I had conceded may never happen many years ago IS happening on the Outdoor arena 🫶

I’ve always said the first moments in a set can be so important!

I never start from the beginning of a track, I always take it to a drop or bit of the intro that pounds!
