A Universal Language: Soccer Blog
There are few activities that truly transcend language and cultural barriers. I believe the game of soccer is one of them.
In 2013, Tobin Heath interviewed with a US Soccer reporter to discuss her experience playing overseas for Paris Saint-Germain. In 2017, Lucy Bronze had a similar interview about her experience playing for Olympique Lyon. Both shared a common message: a story of being able to connect through a sport even when language barriers were present. Soccer (football or whatever you prefer to call it) indeed transcends these barriers and could become a powerful shared context as the sport grows.
This blog, A Universal Language, intends to bring the passion and opinions of women's soccer to the page. Here we will follow international teams as well as the NWSL, WSL and W-League in support of female athletes contributing to the sport. I invite you to join me in the conversation.
