Hypodontia Awareness and Action Group
The Hypodontia Awareness and Action Group advocates on behalf of all patients on the Hypodontia spectrum.
It's key goal is to highlight the myriad functional, psycho-social and financial consequences the condition has and the need for structural change
Hello everybody, I haven't posted here in quite a while but I got contacted by Marisa who is trying to crowdfund the surgeries she needs. Any donation is greatly appreciated:

This video is about my personal journey with Oligodontia, and the need for a change in the way the condition is handled by medical insurance firms. This video also covers aspects of hypodontia spectrum disorders that are often ignored, such as their profound psycho-social impacts.
"What is hypodontia? What is oligodontia? Why do you have missing teeth?"
If you're unfortunate enough to ever have to answer these questions, you could show people this video. It's an excellent concise presentation on various forms of tooth agenesis (missing teeth), including hypodontia, oligodontia and anodontia:

Oligodontia Educational video about oligodontia (hypodontia, anodontia) by Dental Class of 2015 student David Perry.
The Hypodontia Awareness and Action Group is a group that aims to forward the interests of a community of patients that suffer with a range of congenital conditions related to their dentition. This includes, but is not limited to, hypodontia and severe hypodontia/oligodontia. We do this by increasing public awareness for these conditions through the personal stories of sufferers, informative videos, info graphics and other content that makes the profound functional, psycho-social and financial consequences of these conditions clear to others.
Through our efforts we seek to reduce the stigma surrounding the conditions and importantly want to make clear to insurers around the world that these are serious medical conditions that warrant full coverage of the associated costs. These conditions are not as is sometimes thought, merely cosmetic.
This group therefore has three core long term goals:
1. More international awareness for hypodontia, oligodontia, and other disorders that involve tooth loss (e.g. ectodermal dysplasias) as rare dental disorders with profound functional, psycho-social and financial consequences
2. Emphasise the importance of more research into the causes and treatments for these conditions
3. Emphasise the need for full insurance coverage for these congenital conditions, as they are not merely cosmetic conditions. Full insurance coverage is crucial to the both the physical and mental health of sufferers.
In other words, we sincerely believe that everybody in the world has a right to a fully functional and aesthetically acceptable dentition.
