𝐃𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 is a London-based platform and space for and by Black LGBTQIA+ communities, to provide grounding, connection, and to feel seen & heard. A community collective that exists as a means to create intentional space!

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦 is a discussion group with a Town Hall Meeting format. A space for you to be heard, to raise questions and find answers. Our specific life experiences gift us each with different perspectives which, when we share them, enables us to relate and build community. At an edition of The Forum, whilst participation is encouraged, no one has to share if they prefer not to.

This forum’s topic is 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 & 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. Who is allowed to be angry? and why is the answer never Black people?! Opening the conversation up on an emotion that is often projected onto us when we’re not, whilst also being policed how we express it when we are. One of life’s impossible conundrums! And once all is said and done, how do we make space for the accountability that needs to follow.

We will need food, laughter and some dancing after a heavy community conversation… so after the discussion part of the forum, we will enjoy a delicious meal (with vegan options and meat sides), cooked with care by our beloved community member 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞.

After that, we will get to continue with light-hearted conversation and/or dance to some of our favourite bops thanks to a playlist curated by Shoga Shoga.

What better way to end an Afrocentric Pride Weekend and a public holiday!

For the 2nd year (of our existence) in a row, we are curating a program of activities coinciding with the Belgian Pride weekend, intentionally centering and celebrating Black Q***r People and their/our self-determination.

Most of the activities will be truly ONLY 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝘂𝘀, while one (in partnership with an institution) will be open to all BUT still centering and catering to Black Q***r, Trans People.

Q***rness is not just a gender identity and expression and/or a sexual orientation, but a political project which acknowledges that capitalism is heaviest on the most marginalized within our societies, therefore all the events are either 𝑭𝑹𝑬𝑬 or at a very low (maximum €5) ticket price.

It’s a long weekend, so we are taking one day off to breathe between each activity.

𝐊𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐢 𝐎𝐤𝐚𝐟𝐨𝐫 is a Nigerian-born London-based cultural disruptor, writer, director, actor, podcast host and founder of a dance studio.

A lover of words, she weaves her experiences into powerful storytelling, exploring self-actualisation and community-building, whether that’s crafting them into works of fiction or articles, performing them on stage or television, or directing how others convey them on stage. also tweets and dissects bits about society through self-expression, one episode of her award-winning at a time, and in her short social media videos which garner millions of views.

When she is not doing all of the above, she teaches pole dance and twerk at her own in Peckham, London.

Kelechi released her highly anticipated literary debut 𝙀𝙙𝙜𝙚 𝙊𝙛 𝙃𝙚𝙧𝙚 (2023) in 2023, a collection of short stories staged in a speculative world rooted in constantly innovating technology to “improve” society. Throughout , Kelechi uses her genetically and divinely inherited storytelling skill to query and show how Black women navigate a society like this on interpersonal, professional, spiritual, and communal levels.

– 𝙆𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚 (2022, BE) - 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐀𝐛𝐚𝐲

𝙆𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚 (2022) follows the 26-year-old Morgane, who still lives with her mother and has not yet completed her studies. Her love life doesn't get beyond one-night stands. She evidently doesn't know how to get things done - in Brussels we call someone like that a Klette. Or does she, like so many young adults, struggle with the pursuit of the socially imposed course of life?

Born and raised in Brussels, 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐀𝐛𝐚𝐲 decided to make an artistic U-turn after a master's degree in Business Economics at KU Leuven. He started studying film directing at RITCS in Brussels. He graduated as a director in 2022 with the short film Klette. This short film with Jennifer Heylen won the VAF Wildcard, a Flemish film student prize, which awarded .abay production funding for his next short film.

On the soundtrack of 𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙚𝙘𝙝 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘼 𝙈𝙚𝙡𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙚 (2023), poet Marie Paule Mugeni prepares a speech for the day on which the colonial statue of King Leopold II will be definitively removed. In the images, the massive anti-racist demonstrations of that took place in Brussels almost achieve her dream

𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐟 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐞-𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 is an ensemble of Belgian & Congolese artists. They aim at telling new stories about Kinshasa, about Brussels, and the many complex relations in between. Next to their shared practice, try to support each other in their personal artistic projects.

– 𝘼𝙡𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙖'𝙨 𝙍𝙤𝙤𝙢 (2022, BE) - 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐊𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞

𝘼𝙡𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙖'𝙨 𝙍𝙤𝙤𝙢 is a journey into the dreams and nightmares of Alberta Gay. The film looks back at a pop icon's tragic fate, exploring a female perspective on a tragedy that has been described as a man's business. Alberta's Room is an experimental film about absence and grief, straddling the border between documentary and fiction.

𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐊𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞 is a Rwandan and Belgian filmmaker and sound designer. At the heart of .karera’s artistic quest is the notion of absence filling her films - places of hallucinated archives and experimentation at the border of documentary and fiction - with ghostly presences.

𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐆𝐄𝐑 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆: violence d’état contre des personnes Noires

Vendredi 15 mars 2024 – 20:00-22:30
Rue d'Anderlecht 4, 1000 Bruxelles
