The Becky Beaton Memorial Bursary

Valued at $1000

Our friend Becky was a beautiful soul and a true Cape Bretoner at heart. Becky was warm and welcoming to everyone she met. She was adventurous, loved travelling, meeting new people, good music, and fitness. Her strength was unwavering and she was extremely invested in her health and fitness. She had a beautiful infectious smile that lit up every room she ever entered and every person she ever met.

This bursary is to honour our friend who was always there for her family, friends, and community. The bursary will be awarded annually to a graduating high school student who has demonstrated kindness, compassion, and a commitment to their community, and advocating for those less fortunate or fighting for a cause that is important to them. Eligible students must be graduating and planning either post-secondary, volunteering, or a GAP year.
To apply students must submit a one-page letter, indicating why they would be a good candidate for this bursary, including their involvement in the community/extracurricular activities, and plans after high school, as well as a copy of their resume.

Hard to believe this is five years ago-Friends, cousins, aunts, sisters, mother - all wore her name at the race this weekend. Becky's friends were a blessing to her and to us when she needed it the most, there were no half-hearted attempts to be a part of her life but steady, loving support through all of it. And now beyond. She got back what she put into the world, and we miss her every day but no one will ever forget the love that surrounded her. Thank you Jennie for the photo.
