Why should we pay cash everywhere with banknotes instead of a card?
- If I have a $50 banknote in my pocket, go to a restaurant and pay for dinner with it. Then the restaurant owner uses the same bill to pay for the laundry. The laundry owner then uses the bill to pay the barber. The barber then uses the bill for shopping and so on. After an unlimited number of payments, it will still remain a $50 note! It has fulfilled its purpose for everyone who used it for payment. The bank ran dry from every cash payment made with this $50 note.
- But if I go to the same restaurant and pay digitally (by card), the bank fee for my payment transaction is 3%, around $1.50. Then another $1.50 for the laundry owner and the barber and so on. After 30 transactions, the initial $50 will only be $5. The remaining $45 becomes the property of the bank...thanks to digital transactions and fees.
Bottom line - USE CASH!
Let's keep our hard-earned money to ourselves instead of giving it to the banks.

I thought some of you might be interested in the position of the Minnesota Nurse's Association:
"The Minnesota Nurses Association believes that voluntary vaccination programs along with other essential infection control measures such as optimal personal protective equipment, contact tracing, rapid testing and results, adequate staffing, hygiene, environmental controls, isolation policies, and paid COVID leave for healthcare workers who need to quarantine are the most effective strategy for a healthy population and that all those who can be vaccinated should be.
We believe that hospitals and other healthcare institutions have a responsibility to provide all these measures to keep both workers and patients safe. Unfortunately, hospitals across our state and country have abandoned that responsibility in lieu of cost cutting measures that have left our facilities unprepared for the current crisis we are facing. After years of deliberate under staffing, increasing threats of workplace violence and lack of autonomy over their profession, the same healthcare workers who have been caring for us in our darkest hours are exhausted and leaving the profession early or for less demanding work. We question the timing of the impending vaccine mandates and believe these mandates will continue to exacerbate staffing shortages.
It’s time for our healthcare system to get back to healing the patient and upholding their responsibility to workers. "

Two more great articles that describe the amazing effectiveness of Ivermectin in both treating and preventing COVID, based on both high quality research and widespread clinical use in > 20 countries, with India being the most recent new adopter. At the university where I work as an associate professor of nursing, many use the tagline “Stick with science”. Well here is what the science is telling us about how to treat and prevent COIVD-19 based on extensive review of global research on this topic done by a group of well respected critical care physicians.
The link below is to video of testimony at a senate hearing by Dr. Pierre Kory, a board certified physician in critical care medicine, pulmonary disease and internal medicine. Dr. Kory is president of a non-profit organization of critical care physician specialists called the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC). This group of physicians has spent the last year scouring “the world’s literature” on COVID-19 with the aim of trying to identify effective protocols for treatment and prevention of COVID-19.
Dr. Kory testifies that the results of this extensive literature review show that a drug called Ivermectin demonstrates significant efficacy in treating and preventing COVID-19.
This may be a game-changer in saving lives from this virus. I encourage you to watch the video of Dr. Kory’s testimony about Ivermectin at the link below to learn more about what the science is telling us, and then share this widely with others.

Stress is inevitable. It is a normal part of life. Our body was made to handle short periods of stress. However, longer periods of chronic stress can drain our energy and vitality and lead to health issues.
Sometimes steps can be taken to prevent or reduce sources of stress. When this is not possible, it is helpful to have ways to minimize the negative impact of stress. Over the years I have researched and experimented with a variety of ways to improve my response to stress. I developed a “tool-kit” of stress-busting options that I use when needed. Using the breath to manage stress is one type of tool that is easy to learn and easy to use when stressful situations arise. Here is my blog post with some of my favorite breathing techniques to use when you notice signs of stress, along with ideas for how to add them to your life.

Stress-BustingToolkit: Breathing Techniques; Empowering Holistic Health Many people have a tendency to breath shallow or hold their breath when they are stressed. This decreases oxygen to the brain and other tissues, and makes it more difficult to think clearly and manage emotions. So, here are some simple breathing techniques that can help.
We live in a fast-paced world. The massive amount of information we are exposed to and the rapid pace of change can leave us feeling stressed and overwhelmed as we struggle to keep up. We need some tools to support our health and wellness.
The body supports us during stressful situations by releasing “stress” hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol. These hormones are released from our two adrenal glands, which sit on top of each kidney. They provide energy to help us respond to stressful situations.
Unfortunately, this comes at a cost. One issue is that the immune system is weakened by high levels of these stress hormones, which makes us more susceptible to infection. This is why you are more likely to get a cold or flu or even a canker sore or cold sore (which are caused by viruses) when you experience a lot of stress.
High levels of these hormones saturate the body’s tissues including the brain, which can cause or exacerbate mental health issues like anxiety or depression. They also saturate the hair follicles causing hair loss, which is often not evident until several months later.
The hormone melatonin is decreased from high levels of cortisol, which is important since melatonin is responsible for helping us calm down and fall asleep at night. Decreases in melatonin can lead to difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. If stress is chronic it requires so much ongoing support by the adrenal glands that over time these glands can become tired and depleted. This leaves you with less energy overall and a reduced ability for the adrenals to help you with the energy you need to respond quickly to an emergency.
So, what can we do about this? Well it turns out there are some simple steps that don’t take a lot of time and can be easily incorporated into your life so that chronic stress won’t derail your life and harm your health.

Magnesium is a natural mineral that serves many important functions in the body. Two critical ones include regulation of muscle contraction and movement of electric impulses along nerves. The importance of this becomes clearer when considering the variety of muscles that we rely on every day to help us move and breathe, and even for the heart to pump blood throughout the body and keep a regular rhythm. It also impacts nerves in the brain which influence mood and mental health.
Unfortunately, many of us are deficient in magnesium and don’t realize it. Since our body is unable to produce magnesium on its own, an important way to prevent a magnesium deficiency is by eating magnesium-rich foods.....

Wild blueberries are the ultimate health and wellness food. Why is this?
One reason is because it is a “wild” food. Food from plants that can grow on their own without help from humans are called “wild foods”. Wild foods usually have higher levels of vitamins and minerals compared to similar foods and also contain higher levels of phytochemicals, healing compounds found only in plants.

Life is busy. We all need to prioritize our time and energy because we have a limited amount of each. It is the same way with food. We only have so much space in our stomach and so much time in our day for eating. So learning how to prioritize foods can help us figure out how to make food choices that will benefit us the most. But, how do we do this?

Hi friends. Got coconut water? I think this should be the slogan plastered over billboards and in commercials. Here’s why.
Coconut water supports our entire body and helps us and with . and the ability to cope with stress, , and is needed now, during this frightening , more than ever. It has a form of which is needed to nourish all cells in the body. The body’s preferred source is glucose. I don’t mean table sugar, cane sugar or other processed sugars- I mean natural glucose sources (like , starchy , natural maple sugar, raw and ). Coconut water also contains that are critical for and , including , , and . It is especially supportive of the , since its are the building blocks for the brain’s .
Neurotransmitters get burned out from high or chronic levels of and . This can lead to or exacerbate , , a brain-related type of , difficulty handling , and other health issues. Coconut water helps the brain to replenish and build neurotransmitters, which helps with just about any type of neurologic issue.
Coconut water also helps to strengthen and heal the . The get depleted over time from high or chronic levels of stress or , long periods of time without eating (greater than 3 hours), and use (yes, I’m talking about coffee and chocolate, since caffeine causes the adrenals to release adrenaline). The adrenals are necessary for helping us with , so this is another way that coconut water supports and . It also supports the directly by nourishing organs with glucose and minerals and indirectly by strengthening the adrenals which are necessary to maintain and to provide the energy required for and .
Coconut water was given into the blood stream intravenously during World War II to treat wounded soldiers. This is because its chemical composition is similar to human blood. This makes it a great source of and replacement when someone is sick, , has or loose stools, or after a strenuous or playing . Sports drinks and even electrolyte drinks like Pedialyte, are loaded with added (artificial) sugar, dyes, and preservatives. This forces the to have to detox all of this and does not provide natural sources of glucose and minerals that the body can use best.
I put coconut water in my fruit every morning for (just frozen fruit and coconut water, sometimes with cilantro). I drink coconut water when I am or , which is when my brain and adrenal glands need the support of its healthy glucose and minerals. I drink it when I have the stomach or a and am . I give it to my sons when they are stressed from school or work and need some emotional and physical .
Please be aware that if coconut water is pink or red it has started to oxidize (break down). So only drink it if it’s clear/whitish in color. Also, avoid sources that have natural flavoring (which usually means it has monosodium glutamate, MSG, which is toxic to the brain and nerves). It’s better to avoid added sugars, but I have a hard time finding this, so I drink the brands with the least amount of added sugar.
Coconut can be found in the which means it is a . Plants in the wild have developed the ability to adapt to their surroundings. When we eat (or drink) the plant or its fruit, like coconut water, it helps us to as well. So, think about adding coconut water to your daily life. Your body will thank you.

Hello friends. I have been working with a family member recently who is experiencing . So, I thought I would pass this information along in case you or your family or friends are having a similar issue. I focus my consulting practice on providing information that can be used to resolve the CAUSE of an underlying , rather than just treating or covering up . In the case of iron deficiency, the cause is often a low-grade .
Viruses and other pathogens need a source of nourishment to stay alive. , like , , copper, arsenic and others, which get into our body from our water, food, air and pharmaceuticals, are one source of nourishment for viruses and other pathogens. I do not recommend an artificial iron supplement for this reason, since it does not address the underlying problem, which is often a viral infection, and actually feeds viruses instead. This will make the problem worse over time and contribute to other health issues.
Thankfully, there are that replenish stores in the body that do not feed viruses. (No or feed viruses or other pathogens). So, I recommend addressing iron deficiency by eating specific foods daily that have the ability to build up natural iron stores in the body (and do not feed viruses). These include:
especially , , and ; ; ; ; sulfur-free dried ; ; and (onions slow iron loss)
Also, there are some that are very specific for iron deficiency that I recommend daily:
• Tea: at least 1-2 cups per day; add to increase effectiveness
• (dried and powdered) - 1 teaspoon added to a cup or mug of hot water, stir until dissolved, then add some raw to taste; 1-2 cups per day
• Another option is to add 1 bag of tea to the Raspberry Tea (so 1 bag of raspberry leaf and 1 bag of nettle leaf in the same cup). This helps to balance and is an EXCELLENT /mineral source
If you are using teas for purposes, please know that quality differs between brands. For this reason and others, the brand you use MATTERS. The brands that I use personally and trust are in the photo.
It is also helpful to avoid eating some specific that feed viruses and other pathogens, but I will save this for another post.

Hi friends. I believe in feeding my family , delicious meals. Since and , with their high levels of , , , and (compounds found only in that help us stay ) are the critical foundation for , this means using the healthiest possible. This sounds pretty straight forward right? Well not quite.
Modern farming practices include the use of synthetic (man-made) chemicals in the form of , , and others that are sprayed on fruits and vegetables. When we eat these foods, the chemicals are absorbed from our foods and make their way to the liver. Your liver is then forced to try to neutralize and remove these from the body. This is the liver’s top priority, removing toxins to keep us . So, other liver functions, like regulating levels and making to help us break down fat in the foods we eat, suffer as a result. Over time, our liver becomes less able to handle this chronic exposure and toxins build up in our bodies.
Research is beginning to recognize the critical link between toxins and : more toxins in the body equals more disease and yes, even diseases like cancer. “In 2015, the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) identified , the world’s most commonly used herbicide, as a probable human .” (1) The bottom line is, if we want to stay healthy, we need to try to avoid toxins when we can. So, how can we do this? Well, one way it to eat whole foods.
Organic foods avoid synthetic pesticides, fungicides, insecticides and lots of other chemicals such as additives, preservatives and artificial colors, which are all things that burden the liver and can result in accumulation of toxins in the body. produce is now much more accessible in grocery stores, but it does cost more. So, how can someone who is trying to maintain a budget take advantage of organic produce to support the of their family? The answer is by using the ’s (EWG) and list (www.ewg.org).
Each year EWG pays independent scientists to test the chemical levels of a large number of fruits and vegetables and identify those with the highest and lowest levels of on the foods. Those with the highest levels are listed as The Dirty Dozen, meaning the twelve fruits and vegetables with the highest levels of pesticides, herbicides, and other chemicals on it. Those with the lowest levels are listed as The Clean Fifteen, the fifteen fruits and vegetables with the lowest levels of pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals on it. So, prioritizing your by choosing to buy organic the foods listed on the Dirty Dozen, will help you avoid the high level of toxins found on these foods when they are grown conventionally (non-organic). Similarly, you can have peace of mind if you choose to buy the non-organic version of foods listed in the Clean Fifteen since these are foods that have the lowest levels of synthetic chemicals, and are less of a health concern.
Every year, I visit the Environmental Working Group’s website (www.ewg.org) to download the newest version of their Dirty Dozen Clean Fifteen list. I put the list on my refrigerator, as well as cut out a copy and keep it in my wallet and take a picture of it and keep it in my I-phone for reference when I am at the grocery store. I also send a picture of this list to other members of my household for when they shop for groceries. So, although it is impossible to avoid all toxins, it is possible to take small steps on a daily basis to minimize our exposure. And small steps over time can make a difference in our health.

Pure, raw . Yum. Just thinking about it makes me feel happy inside! To say I love honey is an understatement. Just ask my family. But all is bad for me, right? Think again my friends. Yes, processed sugar IS bad for us- , , cane sugar, beet sugar, and other types of processed sugar. But, unprocessed, raw honey, is totally different- it is a natural, whole, WILD that is LOADED with . What are phytonutrients, you ask? Well, they are special compounds ONLY found in foods, and they are associated with a lot of and benefits. Research on raw honey has identified specific phytonutrients that support the and even prevent and treat (Badolato et. al., 2017; Waheed et. al., 2018)! WOW, right? These phytonutrients come from bees that pick them up from plants as they move from flower to flower collecting , which is taken back to the hive and is incorporated into the honey.
The natural, healthy sugar in honey is easy for the body to absorb, making it a great source of support for our body, especially our . It also contains high levels of including , , and which is important for hundreds if not thousands of chemical processes in the body. Honey helps our brain and and with and is a natural and healthy way of giving our body what it is asking for when we have sugar . (Sugar cravings are the body’s message that it needs more healthy glucose, such as raw honey and fruit. See my previous post on sugar cravings.)
Raw, unprocessed honey from all sources is powerful for health and , but honey is especially so, due to the of the wild plants that this type of honey comes from.
A teaspoon of raw honey can help relieve a , promote restful and hasten recovery from . I add 1-2 teaspoons of raw honey to teas, and when I am feeling the signs and symptoms of , I add it to a cup of warm water that I have squeezed in for extra . I also use raw honey to replace sugar and in recipes.
