We ask the people of the Municipality of Barrington and the Town of Clark’s Harbour to be prepared
Residents and community members of the Municipality of Barrington and Town of Clark’s Harbour should be prepared to leave the municipality and the town on short notice.
❗ This applies to everyone within the Municipality of Barrington and Town of Clark’s Harbour. ❗
This is not an evacuation alert or order. We are asking you to be prepared for either of those notifications in the coming days.
You will be given as much notice as possible prior to an evacuation order; however, you may be required to leave your home immediately.
The wildfire continues to be extremely active and unpredictable. As of Wednesday night, the span of the fire is currently over 17,000 hectares. With the wind direction changing, more areas of the municipality and town could be threatened and at risk of a mandatory evacuation.
Those with larger animals must consider alternative arrangements, if possible. If you need support, the Yarmouth SPCA can help.
To best prepare for an evacuation, you should:
• Locate all family members and be prepared to evacuate your residence and property.
• Gather essential items, such as medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (insurance), photographs, and immediate care needs for dependants.
• Prepare to move any persons with disabilities and/or children.
• Collect pets and pet needs.
• Move larger animals and livestock to a safe area on your property or make alternative arrangements.
• Take photos of your property for insurance purposes, if time allows.
• Ensure your vehicle has a full tank of gas—arrange to transportation of your household members.
• Monitor this page, Barrington & Town of Clark’s Harbour Emergency Management Organization for additional information.
