It was my pleasure to welcome back the fabulous to chat about perfectionism, ADHD & self-compassion in chronic illness recovery. We challenge ourselves to go with the imperfection of this episode, and I get used as a guinea pig yet again on my own podcast!

Rain - we moan about it. It spoils our plans.
But the beauty in the rain sometimes takes a little more to look for!
I got soaked on my bike doing errands this morning. I was grumpy and soggy.
And then I saw this amazing spider Web on my car when I got home. Beautiful!
My latest episode is with Dr Lydia Knutson from Lydian Chiropractic - here is the lowdown

A beautiful reminder from
You.
Showing up and keeping going every day.

Earlier this year I had the privilege of speaking with the amazing about , connection, vulnerability and a bit of a cello-geek-out
His album "Immunity" is now out and it's an absolute gem - a mixture of very traditional cello rep, some newer stuff, some super cool stuff that's been arranged for cello (and vocals!) as well as some music written by Joshua himself.
It's an amazing album and highly recommend checking it out. His episode on the podcast is well worth a listen too 😉
This week's episode is with Dr Lydia Knutson from Lydian Chiropractic - we discuss what the work she does is, some of her research and the results she has had with patients.

This is episode is inspired by a question from a listener - this is my thoughts on it.
"hi, jackie, I just listened to your episode with Dan Neuffer. I heard you mention that a big piece of recovery for you was identifying what you were doing before becoming unwell that contributed, while also not blaming yourself. I can really relate, as I was also very stressed, perfectionistic, overworking and over exercising prior to having COVID. My question is can you speak to how you did this? How did you work through the self blame if you had any and come to an embodied understanding that it wasn't your fault?"

This time of year is so beautiful in the northern hemisphere - the golden colours of autumn.
The wild and stormy weather has brought down a load of leaves and yesterday I felt like a wee kid jumping in the leaves when I got out for a morning walk.
Coming back after a weeks holiday has felt a little like walking back into chaos. So many emails and things to catch up with.
Its important to find some calm amongst the chaos 😁

Don't compare your healing journey to someone else's.
Don't compare your experience and achievements to someone who isn't going through what you are.

On holiday on the isle of Mull this week I ran out of books. I know right?! Total disaster.
Was so excited to see this book by and I'm just cracking it out now. He's also written a wonderful little book called "Recovery" which is very LC-friendly with short chapters and it's easy to read. In fact at the time it was one of the first books I'd read in ages.
It was really lovely having Gavin on the podcast to chat about the book and his thoughts on recovery and what that meant. He was one of my very early guests and it's a reminder to me of all the wonderful Coversations I've had with incredible people over the last 3+ years of the podcast.
You can hear our chat in episode 30, wherever you get your podcasts or at Www.longcovidpodcast.com (link in bio)
And I very much recommend reading "Recovery" - it's a delight.

Long Covid recovery is a bit like whack-a-mole. We feel like we are making progress, and then we hit a dip, or a new symptom seems to appear out of nowhere.
Physically it's a tough experience to go through. But mentally it's so difficult to keep picking ourselves up time after time. It's difficult to keep that hope and belief in recovery, which is so fundamental to recovery, but such a hard thing to do.
Allowing ourselves the time to process, then to continue. What can we do?
