DOG MOMS- there’s a heat wave this week! Get those homemade doggy popsicles in the freezer stat 🐾🧊☀️🥵

Here is my fav easy recipe: BERRY COCONUT Pops🫐🍓
½ cup yogurt (plain, unsweetened)
1 cup berries (strawberries and blue berries) fresh or frozen
1 tablespoon coconut oil

directions: blend all ingredients together and place evenly into dixie cups. Freeze overnight! Best served outside☀️

Help find Nessa a home🐾

We have a lot of people ask about Nessa when they come in, she's cute, and we call her a "lab" mix so people are drawn to her, but when they ask we always have to be very honest.

Nessa has quite the story. Nessa originally came to us mid 2022, she was shut down, and it took us weeks to be able to get her out of her kennel. When we were finally ready to place her up for adoption she was diagnosed with heartworm disease. This is a long, and painful treatment, on top of the stress the dog was already feeling from being in an unfamiliar environment with unfamiliar people.

Slowly and surely we worked to get Nessa comfortable with a couple of people that worked here, she would go on walks and started to show her true self, nudging hands for pets and walking with her tail wagging and head held high. She got adopted fairly quickly to a nice family, but unfortunately Nessa's fear got the better of her and she escaped from the adopters the first day she was home. They searched for a while but sightings started to decrease and hope was lost.

In January of this year sightings of a black dog were reported in an undeveloped neighborhood and a wonderful local citizen went to work trying to catch her. After two weeks of attempting to live trap poor Nessa they were able to get her safe and sound back to the shelter.

Nessa was missing for 1.5 YEARS, she was HEARTWORM POSITIVE, and we have no idea where she was or how she survived for so long. We hope someone was taking care of her, but we really don't know her story... if only dogs could speak.

This is Nessa. She is back, and she is still as scared as ever. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body, and when you make quick direct eye contact, things like this can happen... she dashes into the closest enclosed space she can find. She tries to make herself small, invisible, she doesn't know who or how to trust.

Nessa needs the most patient family. She DOES warm up, but this is going to take a lot of work, and being careful not to push into her boundaries, even when she can't tell you that you're doing it. She does everything she can to avoid scary situations, but because she doesn't have a big bark, or a scary growl, people tend to ignore how scared she really is. Nessa isn't living the life she deserves here, she deserves to be loved, and given the time she needs to open up and show you how sweet she can really be.

If you have a quiet, routine home, without a lot of foot traffic, Nessa could really use someone to step up and get her out of this scary place. Its not fair for her to have to live in this constant state of fear. Please share, we know her perfect home is out there.
