Hi all!
It’s been a while. There are a few more of you that have connected since the last time I posted a more personal post.
I’m Chris. Mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and creator of food content for Poetic Road 👋🏻
I am a creative at heart. I love to cook, to craft and to play in the world of photography.
I have a BFA and worked in the jewelry industry for two decades, switched to the world of children’s fashion and have, without quite knowing how, now found myself in the niche career of my dreams ✨
So happy to have connected with so many of you wonderful people on this platform.
Thank you for the support and for following me on my journey 💕. I have so many plans and so much I still want to learn.
(I also have some exciting projects coming up that I cannot wait to share).😉
Stay tuned ❤️
It’s Friday and it’s December 1st. I think everyone should celebrate these two things with chocolate cake. 🤎
If you find yourself in a predicament with no chocolate cake on hand- not to worry I have a simple solution for you.
The recipe for this delightful layered Chocolate Cake with buttercream frosting is now on the site. 😉 😉
Happy weekend friends!
Remember those candied citrus peels I made a few days ago? Well, it was to make one of my favorite Swiss Christmas cookies, Basler Läckerli.
A sweet honey-kissed cookie with ground almonds, all the right Christmas spices and of course candied orange and lemon peel.
A firm but chewy cookie that encapsulates the flavors of the season (and Switzerland 🇨🇭) to me.
Recipe will be up in the coming days.
If you like candied peels and the holidays, I urge you to try these!!

Ok, if you have never tried to make Candied Citrus Peels- this is the sign that it’s time you did.
🍊 🍋
Literally homemade candy.
Nothing bitter about it. Just sweet citrusy goodness.
Prepared these for a few baking projects this week, but I’ll likely have to make a second batch because they are being nibbled on by sneaky fingers so I’m not sure if I’ll have any left 😂 ….
If you want to know how to make your own- recipe is up on the blog ✨

Forced snow day for us today ☃️
Woke up to a surprise 30cm (1 ft) of snow ❄️ 😳 .
Streets aren’t ploughed so we have no choice but to stay home and nest. 🤗
One of my favorite cozy things to do on a snowy day like today is to play games with a delicious hot chocolate in hand.
Here’s a shot that didn’t make it into my brown entries for the BROWN challenge with .
Winter coziness at its best.
What are your favourite snow day activities?

I can’t believe I am saying this- but Poetic Road is ONE!! 🥳
When I started my blog a year ago I had absolutely no idea where I was going with it.
I don’t think I could have imagined that it would have brought me to where I am today in just one short year.
How much happiness it has given my soul and how much I have learned creatively is just incredible. It truly has been a Poetic Road 🥹
Not to mention, who knew there was a whole awesome community of food creatives out there?!?!
I have connected with so many of you wonderful people who I truly wish I could meet in person one day. ✨
So many incredibly talented foodies and photographers. I love seeing your talents. You inspire me every day 🩷
I can’t wait to see what I learn in this second year and where Poetic Road will continue to take me.
To celebrate, I decided to revisit one of the first recipes I ever posted.
My Kale and Quinoa Salad with Honey Lime Dressing.
If you swipe. The close-up (second pic) is the best shot I could come up with at the time.
How fun it is to see one’s own progression. Seriously can’t wait to compare again next year.
Thank you to everyone who follows along in my journey. Your support and words of encouragement mean more to me than you know 😘 ❤️

Making Swiss Pasta today a.k.a
a.k.a 😋
So easy and so delicious.
Planning on serving it with creamy chicken and veg for supper tonight.
Haven’t made it in years but I can already tell that this old favorite will be coming back quite a bit this winter.
for the recipe ✨
After a weekend filled with birthday cake breakfasts and in the aftermath of the sugar craze of Halloween, I am definitely craving some healthy and delicious foods.

Healthy and light with the cozy warm flavors of pumpkin spice. 🧡🤎

These have been on my list of things to make since the summer.
Now that we’ve passed through pumpkin spice and all things Halloween 🎃 It was time.
Matcha Macarons with Chocolate Ganache 💚🤎
These macarons have a perfectly crisp exterior with that chewy meringue texture. The filling is as chocolaty and decadent as any chocolate lover would want it to be. Personally I can’t eat more than two in one sitting (I mean I probably could but it wouldn’t be smart 🤪🙃).
Rushing to get this recipe up for you guys. ‘Cause I know how much you need it 😉
