Tongues and Interpretation series – Part 8.
Interpretation of Tongues
1 Corinthians 12:10 NKJV, “…. to another the interpretation of tongues.”
Purpose of the Gift
1. This is to enable the church to understand the manifestation of the gift of tongues when it has been exercised in public through a solo utterance in speech or song.
2. The ministry of this gift is to edify and build up the church.
1 Corinthians 14:4 NKJV “ He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.”
When used with tongues it is equivalent to prophecy in the church.
Some points to remember:
• The interpretation of tongues is not a translation.
It is an interpretation or essence, of a tongue.
• It is not the operation of the mind. Although the spirit operates
through the mind, the mind is inspired by the Spirit.
• The gift of interpreting tongues requires a measure of faith to operate. It requires more faith than speaking out in tongues. The interpreter most likely will receive only one or two words and must move out in faith.

Psalm 27:1-5

The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life-- of whom shall I be afraid?
When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, [1] when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.
Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident.
One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.
Amen!!

What did Jesus feel on the cross? The icy displeasure of a sin-hating God. Why? Because Jesus carried our sins in his body. With hands nailed open, he invited God to “Treat me as you would treat them.” And God did.

“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (Colossians 3:12-17)

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT - OUT ON A LIMB: HOLY SPIRIT FRUIT
When the fruit of the Spirit is operating in our life there is little opportunity for demonic activity to manifest (Galatians 5:16).
The Holy Spirit produces the fruit but we bear it in our lives. Colossians 1:10: ‘so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.’ This means we carry it visibly and we are known by it because we demonstrate the fruit in our lives (Galatians 5:22-25).
Wherever the Word touches on the power of the Holy Spirit it points to work or witnessing. This refers to the Holy Spirit coming upon us. The power of the Holy Spirit is for work; the indwelling is for fruit as it is spoken of as abiding in. The enabling is outside, the regenerating is within.
There was a little boy who was punished and sent to his room for his disobedience. He secretly escaped by climbing down the tree outside his window. One day the father said he wanted to cut down the tree because it had not borne any fruit for several years. The son bought some apples and tied them to the tree. The father could not believe his eyes especially as it was a mango tree.
Luke 6:44 says that each tree is known by its fruit. This is true in the natural as well as the spiritual. Mangoes are only delicious because they grow on a mango tree. It is the law of life that we produce after our own kind. So it is with our words and deeds. If we are loving we will produce love, if we are slow to anger, we will produce peace.
Fruit in the natural is the result of pressure. Similarly love results from God’s sacrifice (John 3:16). Joy comes from sorrow, peace from confusion, patience from trials and inconveniences, faith from emptiness, gentleness from harsh people in our lives and godliness from God allowing corruption around us. There is no way into fruitfulness except through pruning.
Goats of Morocco have the ability to climb trees up to 10 metres tall to reach the fruit they desire. How willing are we to go follow Jesus into places unknown to allow the Holy Spirit to produce the fruit he desires in us? (Marlene Anne Morphew Ministries/Rusty A Lang)

DRESS WELL SPIRITUALLY – Armour of God– HELMET OF SALVATION
“and take up the helmet of salvation..” (Ephesians 6:17)
Each Roman soldier had a helmet fitted just to his measurements – each fitted to the individual soldier. It had a chinstrap, visor, and came down to cover the back and sides of the neck. Officers' helmets had a ridge on top on which was mounted plumage or some sort of brush, depending on the rank. A well designed helmet protected from various angles of attack.
Parts of the Roman helmet were: a lining of leather, softened for comfort and a good fit. The helmet was a bronze cast for the soldier or iron alloy for officers. The highest ranking officers has gold or silver alloy helmets for parade dress.
The greatest battlefield is our minds. This is the area the enemy wants to attack the most. One key area he wants to damage is our assurance of salvation. Paul gave some good advice I Philippians4:8, ‘Finally, brethren whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.’
The helmet of salvation protects the head, where all thought and knowledge reside in our minds. Those who reject God's plan of salvation battle Satan unprotected and suffer the fatal blow of hell. Satan has blinded the world and he will do the same to unsuspecting or careless Christians. We need a mind to be discerning in all situations. This only comes by immersing ourselves in God's word and prayer. (Marlene Anne Morphew Ministries/Rusty A Lang)

Read this: The Gospel message is for everyone! It’s for the rich and the poor, the weak and the strong. It’s for those who are crushed in spirit and for those who are full of joy. It’s for those who have lost a loved one and for those whose loved ones are still alive. It’s for those who have been abused and for those who have been shown mercy. It’s for those who have never had a father/mother figure in their lives, and for those who have been blessed with both. It’s for those who do not yet know Jesus and for those who have given their life to Him. It’s for you, my friend. He died for you! He loves you!

SUPERNATURAL GIFTS -
Tongues and Interpretation
Application to Ministry
1. Speaking in tongues is one of the key gifts to develop the inner person of the believer.
2. Speaking in tongues radically enhances the prayer life of a believer.
3. Speaking in tongues is an excellent way for us to come into agreement with God and intercede for any situation in ministry where we might be personally confused, biased, or have preconceived notions about. By speaking in tongues our spirit speaks the mysteries of God. Speaking in tongues intercedes by using God’s will and not the believer’s.
4. Speaking in tongues enhances the worship life of the believer and the worship life of the corporate body, the church itself.

GRACE FOR GIVING: DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TITHE AND GIVING
A TITHE means ten percent of all monetary benefits that come our way, such as, our wages, what we sell, money earned through odd jobs, inheritance, monetary gifts and the interest we earn on bank accounts. It has nothing to do with time or service or books we buy and give away or CD’s we share, or TV or other ministries we support.
Yes, all that we receive financially, needs to be presented before the Lord in thanksgiving. Then we remove from the top, ten percent, and cheerfully and willingly present it to the Lord as our TITHE and bring it into 'the storehouse', i.e. your place of worship where you are being fed spiritually.
On the other hand, OFFERINGS first appear in the Scriptures in Genesis 4:4-5. The Lord gives us a wonderful example in the lives of Cain and Abel in the area of bringing their OFFERINGS to the Lord. The Lord God accepted one of the OFFERINGS, while He rejected the other. I believe there is an important lesson for us to learn. Abel brought of the first, the best, which God did accept, while Cain did not and he was reproved and rejected.
In Ephesians 5:10 we are told, that we should be at all times "Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord". So, we do need to know and understand what is required and pleasing to our Lord, and what is displeasing to Him.
In Luke 6:38 it says that when we are obedient to The Word of God, and this includes tithes and offerings, then we should expect an abundance of blessings. In other words, generosity produces generosity.
The OFFERINGS given to the Lord God need to be over and above our ten percent TITHE. By this I mean, once we have responded in the area of our TITHES, now we have the freedom to give our OFFERING as we are directed by The Spirit of God.
Then, as a result of our obedience to Almighty God, the Lord says, (Malachi 3:11)
“And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field; says the Lord of Hosts".

You cannot be thin-skinned in your calling. You will be gossiped about, severely betrayed, stolen from, falsely accused, befriended & then mocked, left out, etc.
Keep your eyes on Jesus & allow God to fight your battles. Your assignment is not for the weak.

EVANGELISM
If they want to go, let them leave. Some people will make a false confession just to get rid of us sometimes. Don’t allow this to happen as you will then be responsible for how the person responded.
When you sense the one you are talking to is looking for an exit, back off a bit. Signs of waning interest — wandering eyes, a caged look, darting glances toward the doorway — are clues he’s/she’s probably not listening anymore. Don’t force the conversation. Instead, let the exchange end naturally. Remember, you don’t need to close the deal in every encounter. God is in charge. He will bring the next ambassador along to pick up where you left off. When the conversation becomes a monologue (yours), it’s time to let it go. (Marlene Anne Morphew Ministries/Rusty A Lang)

DISCIPLESHIP. Read Matthew 16:21-28; Romans 6:4; 8:29;2 Corinthians 5:17
As soon as Jesus identity is stated by Peter in verses 15-20 Jesus shifts His teaching towards the cross. This is a major changing point in His ministry on earth and Jesus announces that he is going to His death. He reveals what their lives need to be to truly follow Him. The disciples were still influenced by the majority of the people of that time and possibly thought He would overthrow the Roman rule. But Jesus is bent on describing and defining discipleship. He makes it clear He defines it, not us. (v24-28). He keeps it simple 1. Deny self. 2. Take up our cross. 3. Follow Him. This means to take self-off the throne of our lives and place Jesus at the centre of our lives. This means breaking with systems of the world that are in rebellion against God and its menus of options. We need to follow His teaching. Allow Him to shape our values. Obey His directions. Be on the same mission as He was; join Him in His mission until it becomes ours. Follow His example. Walk in His footsteps for His path leads to true life where we will flourish until we become more than we are, until we reach our destiny to be like Him, in His image and enjoy the resurrection in the age to come.

PLAIN TALK on the HOLY SPIRIT in the WORD –
The call to biblical proclamation begins with a call to hear. Christian preaching finds its root in the proposition that God Almighty has spoken. Therefore, as in Deuteronomy 6:4-7, the one who wishes to communicate this message must first and foremost hear the message from God. The progression found in this passage begins with hearing the message of God. In Hebrews 3:17, the author of Hebrews states, “therefore, as the Holy Spirit says” before he quotes scripture. This shows that the biblical writers understood that it is the Holy Spirit who authored the scriptures and it is only by His power that men and woman are brought from death to life. 5. Intercede for the believer according to the will of God, when he doesn’t know how to pray.
Romans 8:26-27 NKJV, “ Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
NB 1 Corinthians 14:14 NKJV, “For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.”
6. Refreshes the believer. Releases inner rivers of refreshing, healing, strength & glory (John 7:37-3
Isaiah 28:11-12 NKJV, “ For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people, To whom He said, "This is the rest with which You may cause the weary to rest," and, "This is the refreshing"; Yet they would not hear.”

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT - SELF-CONTROL – lack of temper, control over excesses in all things, moderation, self-restraint.
This is not just referring to anger!!!
Love is the fruit that ties all the fruit together but if there is no self control, the witness of a Christian can be destroyed.
Self-control keeps us on track with God.
We need self - control because we are at war with our sinful desires.
Self- control stops the old nature, the old flesh, the body from rising up and taking control over our soul and spirit.
Self- control requires discipline.
Proverbs 25:28 – ‘Whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down without walls.’
Q. What does this mean?
A. Unprotected. Open to evil and temptations.
Our emotions, our thoughts, our actions must exercise self-control.
Self-control makes it possible for us to stay within the boundaries that God requires of us.
Self-control helps us watch what we say and do. (Ephesians 4:26-27)
Self-control is essential for our soul and our body so we will not lose control of our emotions and thoughts or allow our body to follow the lust of the flesh. (Marlene Anne Morphew Ministries/Rusty A Lang)

DID YOU KNOW Why Israel is important?
Did you know that the bell for the return of Jesus Christ
is not based on chronology or world events?
It's based on what's happening in Israel.
Did you know Jesus was not a "Christian"?
He was a Jew, celebrating and observing Jewish feasts and customs
and the feast of the Lord.
He did not come to uproot the Torah and the Prophets/Old Testament Scripture. He came to fulfill the prophecy which were written in them.
When Jesus comes back, He will not be returning to Italy, America or Africa.
The Bible says that he will place his foot on the Mount of Olives and pass through the East Gate, which is currently sealed with 16 feet of concrete.
A cemetery was also placed in front of that door because touching the dead is considered unclean by the Jew and cannot enter the temple, which is considered sacred,
Yet GOD's Word says He will turn there. And from there He will rule and rule for a thousand years.
The final battle will not take place on Russian or Ukrainian soil. It will be in Megiddo valley, Israel.
The Bible says that as nations wage war against Israel, Jesus will come and destroy His enemies by the blow of His mouth.
2 Thessalonians 2:8
GOD has not replaced Jews with Christians like some believe. Basically, we've been vaccinated with it as if you're grafting a wild branch into an existing tree.
The word of God says: "When you touch Israel, you touch the pupil of GOD's eye". Zechariah 2:8
"He who guards Israel neither slumbers nor slumbers." The Lord is your Shepherd". Salmo 121:4 (Psalm)
"I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. "
Genesi 12:3
We are also told to pray for the peace of Jerusalem Salmo 122. (Psalm).
ISRAEL is counting.

GOD’S GUIDANCE
Don’t be guided by bad mood swings, social media, stress, negative opinion of others, bad news, star signs, arguments or pride. Instead be guided by God. His guidance is divine (Exodus 23:1-13). It is clear (Psalm 3:6). It is continual (Psalm 48:14). It is gradual (Psalm 37:23). It is sometimes strange (Isaiah 55:19). It is comprehensive – detailed (Matthew 6:26, 36).
