I am a home cook who loves to perfect my recipes and continue to improve them. I am also a math tut
We were so blessed with such a great team this year. Can’t wait to see them play in CIF. These boys have become such good friends. It’s a bit sad to see it end.
All grown up!
First day at JO qual. It’s been awhile. Go Cether!
Love this board made by ._.d !
Happy birthday to my favorite middle child! May you continue to seek Him with a pure and single heart. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. May you experience the joy and freedom of seeking first His kingdom and His righteousness! All that you need are in Jesus! Love you so much! Can’t wait to watch more sunsets with you this year!
Thank you Jesus for these beautiful crusts! Some days you just feel like you can’t do anything, let alone making these crusts. They look simple, but they crack and take so much precision and time. By His grace and strength alone, none of these crusts cracked or burnt. This is truly the grace of God! Another experience of the truth of God’s words: ‘I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength!’ Philippians 4:13.
Definitely worth posting: happy 50th anniversary to my parents! ❤️ Wish we could be there to celebrate too!
I was so surprised by how good these were! It was totally an afterthought. Now I’m trying to figure out what I did. My daughter and I were showing how to make dumplings for an event on Saturday. I made 100 dumplings but was left with a lot of filling. Instead of making more dumplings, I decided to crawl out of my comfort zone and make my son’s favorite meatball 獅子頭。 Basically I mixed the dumpling meat with 1 egg, panko breadcrumbs, and 1 Tbsp of cornstarch. Then I shaped the meat into giant meatballs and deep fried until brown and crispy on the outside. Drained the oil. I then froze some of the meatballs. Threw in couple of them with a head of napa, couple of shiitake mushrooms, ginger, scallions, sake, sugar, light and dark soy sauce, oyster sauce and water. Braised for 2 hours. Then left it in a Dutch oven at 250 degrees for another 2 hours! You will not regret this. The meatballs literally melt in your mouth! I don’t have a recipe here because all I remember were rough amounts. It’s nice to come home with a one pot meal, ready to go! #獅子頭
Switching between tutoring and cooking. 🤣. Had to move the eraser shavings to the side. Lol
Airfried Korean spicy chicken wings, inspired by and
Everything 👍. Breakfast ham and egg muffin.
Who doesn’t love colorful salad?
Finally made the HK style onion pork chop 洋蔥豬扒. The pork loins were super tender and yummy. But I have got to confess my silly mistake: I accidentally added a tsp of LKK garlic black beans sauce, but it actually tasted even better!
This is such a easy two day recipe. First day for marinade, 2nd day for cooking. I was able to make everything on this plate within 20 minutes.
My house smells so good!
Day 3 of my pasta challenge: creamy miso pasta with salmon. I actually typed out my recipe immediately after so that I can remake this dish. My son approved! I actually really liked it too. This may be a healthier pasta choice.😉
Been challenged by my son to make good Italian pasta. First try was a meatball in marinara sauce. (Forgot to take pics). Today we tried a chicken Alfredo with garlic and sun-dried tomatoes. I guess we will be eating pasta a lot these coming weeks.
Fun southeast Asian lunch for the weekend.
My version of pepper lunch. The funny part is that I never ate at this chain. We do not eat out a lot, so growing up I would imagine what something would taste like and try to make it, or I ate something I like at a restaurant, I will try to replicate the dish at home. So this is completely based on what my kids told me and what I saw online. 🤣 this version is totally doable at home.
Sautée one onion (julienned)
with 4 cloves of garlic (minced) with 1/2 tbsp of butter. Then push them to the edge of the pan. For a healthier meal, I also chopped up some cauliflower and sautéed with the above.
Put a bowl of rice in the middle. Place the raw seasoned beef on the edge. (I had bulgogi from Costco, but you have to cut them smaller, and we all think it was a little too sweet). I would suggest any thinly sliced beef from Japanese or Asian market, and can season with Yoshida sauce (Costco) or any savory soy based sauce. Pour 1/2 can of corn and two chopped green onions on top. Drizzle the sauce on the rice. Sprinkle a lot of fresh ground black pepper on top! Heat up the hot plate and let it sizzle! Enjoy! This was prepared in 15 minutes. This was served with some boiled broccoli.
Korean potato soup with soft tofu. Perfect for a rainy day. And I literally put in whatever veggies I found.
Nothing beats a bowl of hot ramen on a cold morning. I put the pork in the instant pot for sous vide last night and woke up to this bowl of Japanese ramen. Chashu recipe: but I cooked it in the instant pot using the sous vide function. 145 for 5-10 hours. I normally use pork butt from since they are tied already. For a leaner version, I used pork ribeye roast from . It tastes less fatty and very tender. I used pork belly in the past and preferred the leaner cuts. Ramen eggs: instant pot pressure cook 3 minutes, instant release and ice bath immediately, then soak in the charshu sauce overnight. Brussel sprouts: cut in half and pan fry on stove stop until charred. Season with salt and pepper. Mine was leftover from last night.
Since this was not planned, I did not make tonkotsu, so a ramen package would work still. 🤣. But I am the healthy one who boils the noodles for 3 minutes, dump the waxy water & rinse under cold water.
Leftover fruit & cream = another tart
Finally finished! Mini fruit tarts: strawberries, peaches, mandarin oranges; mini cheesecake bites: original and match, with a raspberry. ❤️
Bake day. Mini tart shells. Mini cheesecake bites. Fun!
Finally made this! And it turned out great. It was a lot easier than I expected. Bun: Hokkaido milk bread recipe.
Hot dog: Hebrew national beef frank. Topping: Asiago cheese with savory herbs.
Next challenge: tiramisu with a twist on the lady fingers 🤣
Instant pot magic.
Chuck Roast sous vide in beef bone broth. Doesn’t look that great, but it melts in your mouth. Now all I need is to cook some somen noodles.
These perfect corners bring a smile.😄
Homemade bento. Got to do this more often.
Copycat of fika’s smoked salmon avocado toast. Of course, I ran out of toasts. Glad I had some brioche buns. What’s wrong with ends and pieces?! They are just as yummy and much cheaper. 😍
