Let me introduce you to my friend Teresa Meléndez-Padilla, a Puerto Rican African doll maker who maintains the traditions passed down from her mother and her mother and hers.
Interested parties can order from her collection or she can make dolls customed-made to suit the recipient. The dolls reflect the variety of skin tones of our society and some represent historical Puerto Rican women. These, come with a handmade book including the biographical data for each historical woman.
I have a collection of Teresa's dolls sitting among and peeking between my books and some of her pieces hang from my Christmas trees. I hope they come to grace your home as well. (English translation available once you click on the link,)

Some of my Xmas stash. My friends and family know me so well--books, journals, and a tote to carry them in. We just weeded our bookshelves and got rid of 9 boxes of books. I guess we're starting to fill up those shelves all over again. Thank you to all my generous friends.

Some people look at this community and focus on poverty and crime. I look at it and think of a thriving artistic hub for so many of our arts, a beehive of creative expression: culinary feasts, musical greatness, visual arts explosions, literary offerings and so much more all at prices we can all afford. Go and explore the treasures of the historical cradle of our community in New York City.

I'm totally immersed in 's new novel .
So pleased to share the news! I have been granted a MacDowell fellowship for their Spring/Summer 2024 season. This stay will give me the peace, quiet and concentration to complete the first draft of my third novel in a series, tentatively entitled Of Mothers and Daughters. This award will help me continue being in hibernation mode, living my mornings in the world of my creation. I am thankful to all the organizations and individuals who have contributed and continue to contribute to my journey to publication of my third book. And a special thank you to my readers who have been so supportive and generous of heart. Mil gracias.
