So it doesn't get forgotten. The trap banquet is this Thursday 6-7:30 at the high school commons. The only thing people need to do is come, eat, and celebrate the students accomplishments.
As many of you know, over the last few years the Kearney MO Trap Club has been making a name for ourselves in the world of trapshooting. Not only are we the biggest in the state with 92 shooters, in the last four years we have had 4 top 4 state finishes. We’ve always been in the hunt for a state championship and in 2015 we missed it by one bird. Through hard work and perseverance, the goal of a state championship was finally accomplished.
This weekend the club took 7 teams, the most in club history, to compete. The state shoot attracted close to 1000 shooters compiling over 250 of the best trapshooting teams in the state. All of these shooters are competing for the honer of being called the best shooter in the state, or state champion. Individual awards are broken up into six divisions: Ladies, Junior High, Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. High school team awards are divided into 3 divisions Ladies, Junior High, and top high school team.
This year not only did the Kearney Trap Club win three championships, we made a statement. We had one individual State Champion and earned two out of the possible three high school team trophies. So, without question, Kearney Missouri can proudly say Kearney MO Trap Club is the best high school trap club in the state of Missouri.

KEARNEY HIGH SCHOOL TRAP SHOOTING SPRING 2018
Last Nights Practice
Last night was another great night for shooting. Ashley (from KCTA) pointed out that the only time the weathers been nice has been on Thursdays. The scores show it we had 32 people shoot 40 or better last night. That’s insane. As of right now we have 6 teams going to state. Great job. Remember if you want to shoot a practice round we are now only shooting those at the house behind the clubhouse.
Safety Safety Safety
Last night we did better than the week before, but we can still do better. Parents and other shooters it is OK to tell shooters to correct something to keep them safe. Don’t hesitate to remind them of the safety rules if someone is not following them. If someone corrects someone and they give you grief of any kind come, get one of the coaches. Shooters, if someone corrects you their trying to help you out. Say thank you.
1. Always have gun action “open” if not shooting.
2. Always keep safety on unless shooting.

STATE SHOOT
The State Shoot is April 28th this year. State teams will be announced April 13th. To go to state shooters must average 40 out of 50.
State is a one day shooting event that starts at 9:00am and ends after awards are handed out sometime in the afternoon, depending on shootoffs. Before we sign up we find out when teams want to shoot. Some teams like shooting in the morning to get it over with and some like shooting in the afternoon so they don’t have to wait around all day to hear their results. Times for teams will be discussed closer to the date.
To compete shooters will shoot 100 birds one time (unless there needs to be a shootoff). After they shoot their 100 birds we anxiously wait as the scores get posted throughout the day.
The club will pay for the shooters entry fee and one practice round for the team before they shoot.

Last night someone accidently picked up a little black box with a little grid on it with chokes in it.
Shooters – please look through your stuff and see if you have an extra choke box.
Guardians - you may need to check your shooters stuff because no shooter thinks they’d ever pick up something extra.
