My son has been loving the men’s freestyle BMX cycling 🚴‍♀️ the jumps are insane.

Summer holidays = limited studio time

I love the summer holidays. Lazier mornings and more quality time making memories with friends and family 💛 However it does mean a lot less time in the studio. Balancing working and entertaining. I feel so lucky that I can do this with ease and work as and when I need to. The kids are in clubs so I have the morning making 🙌 Today is wax carving. I can’t wait to show you how these turn out!

I chose the wrong day to do all my soldering 🥵

There’s been some double torch action in the studio and I’m sweltering. Trying to find ways to cool down and taking breaks from the heat.

Definitely not one to want to complain when the suns out but working in this heat is not the one.

July already!!

The days and months are flying by. I can’t quite believe the kids finish school in just a couple of weeks. My working hours reduce quite significantly during the summer school holidays as I will have them off with me. We’re also lucky enough to be away on holiday in that time too. I’m using this month to squeeze in as much bench time as possible so I can enjoy the time off.

A flashback to this Australian opal gold pendant

I made this pendant back in October for a lovely gentlemen who had sourced this opal for his wife. He wanted it set in gold and had specific requirements for how he wanted it to look. It was the first time I had set an opal and it was the most incredible stone to work with. I made an opening at the back, so the light captured the beauty of this stone. The gold setting complimented it beautifully 👌🏻

Breast milk jewellery 🤍

Hand making jewellery like this is something really special. I make every single part of the ring from scratch using recycled sterling silver and the customers breast milk for the stone. Putting it all together to create a beautiful and delicate piece of jewellery to treasure and hold on to those precious memories forever.

Such a therapeutic way to create jewellery. Hand carving and filing such a delicate material in comparison to precious metal gives you the freedom to be much more gentle when creating special pieces and gives more opportunity for precision. Great sessions teaching today. Can’t wait to see how these turn out.

This is such a joyous task!
After spending hours making your precious pieces of jewellery and giving them their final polish, I get to wash my hands and start packing them up ready to send off to their new home. They move from my messy workbench into some pretty (eco) packaging and I just love it when it all comes together 🎁

Natural silver necklaces 🩶

As part of a more natural jewellery collection and to run along side my recycled silver ball studs, I have made these recycled necklaces. They are made sustainably by using my own recycled silver, are approx 10-15mm in size and are completely unique, as each one I make will always be slightly different from the other. They have a really lovely weight to them and are textured with little natural bumps. Very reasonably priced too at just £35. Whats not to love 🩶

Two sweet little feathers 🪶

Feathers symbolise hope, love, balance and energy ❤️
This was a commission for a customer who had lost something similar previously and couldn’t find what they were looking for.

I really enjoyed making these but working small is hard. It has its challenges. You would imagine the smaller the easier as there’s less of it, but let me tell you that is not true. So much extra time goes into making every piece of jewellery and getting the finer details in those smaller pieces is particularly difficult.

It’s all very rewarding when you pull it off though, and I’m so pleased with how this turned out.

It was cold in the studio yesterday.

Trying to stay warm and wrap up my orders as i’ll be taking some time off over the half term. I will be back to the studio on 19th Feb and I’ve got lots of exciting things I’ll be working on, which I can’t wait to share with you.
