Easter Science Activity
Materials:
-Plastic Easter eggs
-Baking soda
-Vinegar
-Sq**rt bottle/water bottle
-Food coloring
-Egg carton
-Storage container for something to set the egg carton in (ex. Rimmed cookie sheet, small tote)
Directions:
-Place half a plastic egg in each slot of egg carton
-Put 1 or 2 drops of food coloring in each egg (any variety of colors) then spoon baking soda on top to hide the dye underneath
-Give the bottle to the kids to sq**rt vinegar from bottle into plastic eggs
(You can keep this activity going by carefully dumping out the vinegar from each egg half as long as there is still some baking soda in the egg.)
Counting/Matching Colors with Easter Eggs
Supplies:
-Plastic Easter eggs
-Easter themed items (I used jelly beans instead to show that the kids can match colors during this activity, too)
-Black Sharpie marker
-Egg carton
Directions:
-Use black sharpie to write number and dots on eggs
-Using the egg carton to hold all the eggs and Easter items/jelly beans, instruct your child to add the correct number of Easter items/jelly beans to each egg. Then, match the written numeral to the correct number of dots
-The small pieces and closing the eggs while keeping all the Easter items/jelly beans inside can make a great fine motor skill challenge too! You can also then use them as shakers.
