Kevin Paxford Chimney Sweep
Hi, welcome to my business page which will provide you information and updates about my availability and services I offer.
Thanks to my great and loyal customers, I’m currently booking into mid October, please do reach out as soon as you can to book in to avoid disappointment.
Kev
I always advise not stacking wood next to wood burners, lots of people argue that it’s fine and dries out the wood prior to burning.
Hopefully this photo that was sent to me demonstrates exactly why I advise it’s not safe to do this!

If you've recently moved house, remember to get your new chimney swept as a priority, to give you peace of mind to use this winter.

It’s always important to burn the right fuel …
If you own a wood burner, multi-fuel stove or open fire, it’s important to know how to burn better. When using the wrong type of fuels, such as wet wood or house coal, tiny particles present in smoke are released into the air, which could damage your health and the health of those around you.
The good news is a few small changes to the way you burn can make a massive difference:
• Always choose fuels that are cleaner to burn. Look for the ‘Ready to Burn’ logo on bagged fuel.
• If you burn wood, make sure it’s dried properly. Freshly cut wood needs to be air dried for a minimum of 2 years or have a moisture content of 20% or less before it’s safe to burn.
• Have a skilled tradesperson clean and maintain your appliance regularly.
• Get your chimney swept at least once a year. This reduces emissions as well as the chances of chimney fires breaking out.
Taking steps like these will help you improve the air you breathe, helping to protect your health and the health of those around you.
