Well, the day has come. I will be locking up the door on Hawthorn & Co.

I started Hawthorn & Co. as a creative outlet for my decorating addiction and it turned into sharing my love of vintage, antique, and thrifted goodies.

I’ve met some great people along this adventure and learned so much and for that, I am grateful.

With that being said, I will be having a sale! Some items will be available to be shipped and some will only be available for local pick up. I will gather up what I have left, snap some pictures, and post them for you guys to browse.

Thank you for the support over the past couple of years- it has not gone unnoticed and it is much appreciated.

I’ve been taking some time off from Hawthorn and damn, it’s been nice to kick my feet up and relax ✌🏼

My heart is full today. I feel extra thankful to have a husband that not only supports my goals and ideas for this shop, but also lends a hand to help me with it. I’ve got one of the good ones.

I feel lucky that I get to show Lucy Cate the beauty in everything and the ability to be creative. I love that I can share my passion with her for everything vintage, antique, and well-loved.

What are you feeling extra grateful for?

Chippy, crackly, salvaged, rusted goodness. My love language.

Morrell’s was the big meatpacking plant back in the day, based out of Ottumwa. This is such a cool piece of history!

This sign from is my favorite. When I saw it, I knew I had to have it. I didn’t know where I was going to put it- but into my Etsy cart it went!

Fast forward and I think it looks great paired with a couple of baskets on the wall.

I always keep my eyes peeled for baskets when I’m out thrifting. They are a staple for me to decorate with! (The nail holes on the wall from said baskets are also a staple for me to decorate with.. but that’s a story for another day).

I love a good, ol’ b+w photo. ESPECIALLY those panoramic ones.

Spending Christmas alone this year, because I’m on call.. the life of a nurse, amiright?!

Nothing screams comfort like a hand-written recipe from my mama and her famous white chicken chili.

So, since I can’t be with family for the holidays this year (except for my big, furry pup babies), I can at least feel like I’m at home with this soup.

Something about any type of glassware, stoneware, ironstone just draws me in.. B O N U S P O I N T S if it has chips, crackles, imperfections.. you catch my drift.

The imperfections (to me) is what makes it unique and gives it the character I’m looking for. You know, a little rough around the edges 😉

I love a good, old book collection. I love all the history in them and all of the eyes that have read through the stories. In one of the front covers, there’s a handwritten note that says, “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, 1902.” How amazing is that?!

Books are awesome pieces to decorate with. You can stack them up on a coffee table, group a couple together with an antique bookend, or add into a vignette on a shelf.

I will have this stack available at my next pop-up, 509 City Vintage Market on December 3rd and 4th.
