Some things take me a while to get back to, and I still persevere and aim to complete them.
This is the story from my Kombuchas that we're ready about 2-3 months ago.

I just got them done today lol.

I'm proud to say, I still got them done.

So I've freshened up both olive trees now, pruned all dead branches off, tipped all good branches, refreshed soil and more water.

These are the cuttings from the tips, in honey. It will be interesting to see if any take, even half would be amazing . About 20 cuttings.

Warning - graphic photos to some

What a fabulous morning turning roosters into dinner. Thanks to my friend Donna Ranfurly for the support and techniques ❤️
We refreshed skills & learnt well for next time.

Very satisfied to grow my own meat. Now onto making chicken soup, dog gets legs, Donna gets feathers, carcass & guts for garden

Nothing wasted ❤️🤗😁👍& a soft educational for my little one 💗 who purposely missed the kill /chop legs/wings bit but chose to see the roosters dead and getting skinned.

Crushed bones & egg shells for chickens.

I'm trying to provide more calcium and protein for my hens to increase their egg production and health.

We had pea & ham soup, slow cooked 15 hours, so the bones were soft ish.

Then, once the bones were stripped of meat, I stuck them in the oven. But it wasn't long enough, so I changed them to the air fryer

Here we are grinding up the bones to feed back to the hens. With them ground up, they can access the minerals inside the bones, which I'm sure will help their health.

GRATITUDE

I am greatful for a fellow leatherworker, in 2009, gifted me an even older fellows (deceased) leatherwork collection. This was when I first started leatherwork, with Allan Hartley as a mentor, and our Tuesday night group, Brian, me (Sapper Sal as Al called me), sometimes Renee Matthews (when she was in high school 😃).

The reason I reminisce tonight, I've finally got ready to purpose zippers for leather bags. In this old fellows collection, was a bag of zippers, something I never really bothered to unpack, or look at closely, I just knew they were zippers.

So tonight I unpacked them to see what was there. Still in the original blue bag, tied with the same piece of string, from the kind family of this deceased gentleman. I just feel really touched that someone saw something in me, to gift me this collection.

And I am so GREATFUL as to how leatherwork has grounded me and shaped me right to today.

And all the amazing people I've met along the way ❤️

30 zips - WOW I knew this was going to be a handbag year lol

Helping bees

I so happy I had the courage to let this little guy crawl from the leaf onto my finger. I really wasn't sure about it!

But he didn't sting me and sat there for a few minutes to dry his wings n recover. So then I put him on a flower out of the rain.

It's the little things I guess.

And saving 1 bee at a time. ❤️🐝

Dimensions In Leather

January 21-28th
St Lucia Campus, Uni of Qld @ Brissy

1 day course #1 with Rick Rowbottom was a 4 strand roo leather plait over a leather core to make a necklace.

It took alot of repetition with doing and undoing to get it tight enough which made for great practice 😅

Very happy with the end result!

We were out in the yard this morning and noticed that our grass that has seed heads was attracting a large number of bee-utiful bees!

After explaining to Pippa about bees, that they were collecting the nectar, the yellow stuff on their dangley legs and that their bum bums had a stinger, so we look with our eyes but don't touch, we took photos.

Check it out & bee appreciative! These guys give us food!

This is one reason why chemical free living is so important to us and in turn, to the bees!

Mulberry cuttings - WINNING!

I made 11, I think 10 are successful.
I've found rooting liquid or powder helps alot, as does putting them in full shade with the pots in a bowl of water.

And then do a whole heap of waiting, then give up, and just leave them there anyway.

And voila! They come back to life.

Such a great morning with my friend Kurt , hanging out, catching up and looking in the garden.

He left with some pineapple sage & rosemary cuttings to grow and a bunch of oregano to dry & some turmeric to plant.

I kept on gardening after he left, repotting, digging out tiny basil's & repotting for mum & I.

Harvesting pineapple sage and a big bundle of rosemary for drying.

And the girls gave me eggs!
