We are looking for a full, or partially functional stove for fire prevention demonstrations. Would anyone have one to donate?

Albertans across the province can access the Digital Overdose Response System (DORS), an app that helps prevent fatal overdoses when using opioids and other substances alone.

DORS is helping to reach some of those most at risk of fatal overdose: people who are using at home alone. On average, 70% of opioid-related fatalities in Alberta take place in a private residence, often while the person is using alone.

DORS is a confidential, anonymous app that dispatches emergency medical services if a user becomes unresponsive. Individuals using the app will receive a call from the STARS emergency centre if they fail to respond to a timer. If an overdose is suspected, STARS will immediately dispatch an ambulance to the person’s location.

A huge thank you to Nolan West and the rest of his Rival Trade Brewing Co. team for hosting this event and for partnering with us to make “The Original 49er Red Ale” to commemorate the 100 year milestone and “the Original 49er” Classic fire truck which is a staple of the department’s past. Currently, the 49er is tucked away in the Rocky Firehall, squeezed between our current Fire trucks. It only gets out a couple of times a year for the public to admire. We believe the 49er deserves its own hall to allow members of the public to view it all hours of the day. This is the goal that we are fundraising to achieve. Not only did Rival Trade host our celebration and silent auction this past weekend, they also have pledged a portion of the profits from the Original 49er Red Ale to kickstart our fundraising campaign. Thank you to everyone that came out to bid on the silent auction items, and a huge thank you to all the businesses that donated items. The community really delivered.

No, it’s not the home owner’s responsibility to clear a hydrant, but if your house is in jeopardy would you rather us be shoveling, or flowing water?

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.
