So sad that Karen’s life was cut short because of Ovarian Cancer. 25 days before her death, Karen joined me on my podcast to share her story. She was still so full of life and had hopes to celebrate her upcoming anniversary.
I wanted to give women living with Ovarian Cancer a voice! Karen’s voice will now live on and her legacy to help others will help many to be aware of Ovarian Cancer and living in the palliative stages of this disease.
I’m going to miss this lady very much and I’m grateful that she shared her story with me ❤️

In this episode I talk to Gemma, a young woman living with Endometrioid Uterine and Ovarian Cancer in Manchester. Gemma has a very powerful story to tell of being your best advocate and trusting your intuition when something feels wrong. It was a long-crooked road to diagnosis for Gemma which seems to be a very common issue for many of us. We also talk about so much more in this episode, including Endometriosis, anxiety and what helped Gemma, insomnia, the new normal, infertility and where to find support. I am very grateful to her for spending so much time with me to share her story; especially as she is currently going through chemotherapy at present.

At last, I’m back with my Podcast and this one is a brilliant episode to get started with again.
I know many of you have asked about when I’d be recording again so thank you for bearing with me.
Please have a listen to Carol’s story. For some time she thought her symptoms were due to everyday ailments that we all experience from time to time. However, her abdomen was abnormally swollen for a more serious reason. As a nurse she didn’t really suspect anything untoward to begin with but it was actually Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer!
Listen to “Living with Ovarian Cancer Podcast” to hear Carol’s story. Luna,my cat, made a sudden appearance part way through recording. We left it in as it was quite humorous. 🥹
Please subscribe so you get to hear the next episode as soon as it’s out. Oh, and please leave me a review and a comment, because I really had no idea so many were listening to my podcast until I started to get messages asking when the next one was.
Thank you so much my lovely friends. If you could share this post I’d be so grateful. You never know who might benefit from it. 💙

In this episode I talk to Jo, who describes how she endured many years of concern over her potential to develop cancer due to her family medical history. Sadly, she was not taken seriously and was unable to have the vital genetic testing that was required to ascertain her risks of developing Breast and Ovarian Cancer. Eventually she did develop Ovarian Cancer and after having the BRCA test, which she paid for privately, Jo found out that she was BRCA 2 positive. For this reason, Jo elected to have a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy.
Jo’s story really is quite concerning given that she was so sure that she was at risk of developing cancer, yet I couldn’t fail to be inspired and uplifted by her story at the same time. Jo has such a zest for life and she has the biggest, kindest heart. I hope you enjoy listening to her story.

I’m talking to Lexi who is an absolute powerhouse of energy and tirelessly raises awareness about Ovarian Cancer, particularly Low Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer in the AYA (adolescent and young adult) community.
We talk about Lexi’s story related to her symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of Ovarian Cancer. We focus on the immense sadness and the implications regarding infertility which Lexi has endured and still endures since her diagnosis at the age of 27.
We also talk about why research is so vital into Low Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer. The essence of this episode brings such raw, open, honest and insight into what it is like to live with Ovarian Cancer at such a young age including how humour plays a huge part in the coping. A shout-out to Lexi’s amazing Husband who is a huge support to Lexi; and also to Val, Lexi’s beautiful support dog who is a source of such joy.

In this episode I talk to Jane Waygood who lives up in beautiful Scotland. She shares her story with Ovarian Cancer and the struggle to get a definitive diagnosis. Jane is a very proactive lady who used the internet in a positive way to learn more about her disease and what was available to help her.
Jane underwent surgery followed by conventional treatment with chemotherapy and she shared a funny story about her wig on Mother’s Day!
We spoke about how Jane coped with the diagnosis of Ovarian Cancer and how her can-do attitude to life helped her through. She prefers to know the truth of what is happening as that helps her to understand and cope with what she is facing. Further on in her disease Jane sought less conventional treatment when she started to follow Jane McLellands regime. Then more recently, Jane developed Cancer on her Lip and underwent significant treatment which she also tells me about.
Jane is such an open and honest lady, sharing very difficult moments and how she coped. She really is such an inspirational lady.

Episode 14 is ready to listen to: In this episode, I am talking to Lesley Anderson who is living with a rare sub-type of Ovarian Cancer known as Low Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer. Whilst her Greyhound Ted was sleeping, Lesley kindly talked to me about the symptoms that she initially thought were ‘Irritable Bowel Syndrome’. However, when friends noticed her weight loss, Lesley went to her GP who carried out further investigations that led to a cancer diagnosis. Lesley tells me about her surgery, chemotherapy and her Hormone Blocker maintenance treatment. In this episode, Lesley talks about significant bereavements that happened during her treatment which were very difficult to discuss because they are still so raw.
