One day, you won’t need to be afraid to speak up on matters that are important to you in life.

The people who take offence to your perspectives and your truth, by treating and mistreating you, will face their own karma for their actions and choices.

But that “one day” comes and goes over time, so don’t wait until you’re too old to try and make a difference.

This is cool! I would also like to see all First Nations in our territory celebrate their Treaty 9 day. The ones our ancestors signed, who had ceremonies and feasts to celebrate. To dedicate a day or week of special events, spaces to share those ancestral/elder teachings, their understandings and how they apply to our lives, past, present and for the future.

Revised Indigenous Peoples Day celebration schedule!

This is good governance!

Photos from Mushkegowuk Council: Lands and Resources's post 06/06/2024

Why does Mushkegowuk Council have a Lands & Resources when each First Nation has one already? Why is Mushkegowuk Council: Lands and Resources applying for money to lead conservation in our territory when we have our own people doing that already? The difference is that our own First Nations people are doing the actual “leading” and not depending on non-First Nations environmentalist doing their work for them and taking the credit!

It’s 2024 and our leaders are allowing NGOs like Mushkegowuk Council take over and they’re not doing anything about the corrupted ones undermining our Chief & Councils and headmen governance.

📢 Attention community members:

On May 14th, Weeneebayko Area Health Authority is launching a new digital patient record system to improve patient care and safety.

While staff become familiar with the new technology, some processes may take longer than usual. Our focus remains on providing the best care possible for our patients and their families.

Important Reminder: Patients will need to bring their health care with them to their hospital visit to ensure smooth registration and access to our services. Thank you for your cooperation as we enhance our patient care system.

This is one of the reasons why I don’t agree with Council of Chiefs corporate governance at Mushkegowuk Council.

As a councillor at the time, we were not aware of this work being done by the Grand Chief and with the Chiefs present at the time.

As delegates going to the Assembly in Missinabie, this was added to the agenda and we were all expected to pass it like any other resolution.

Luckily it was debated and stopped!

This is an example for Councillors to learn from, this is why we need to adopt policies and guidelines for Chiefs to bring back all the discussions and decisions that need to be made, but with informed consent and if needed, consultation and consent from membership.

PTOs and Tribal Councils are not governments, they are corporations!

Read that again!

Mushkegowuk Council rebranded and it’s now called Omushkego Nation Rebuilding Initiative

Still the same plan, and still without First Nation Councillors and Membership consultation and consent.

08/12/2023

AFN is an advocacy organization yet it’s exploited to be a mechanism for consultation and consent. Chiefs are the elected leaders who vote for the most capable person to be a spokesperson. Some do it without the knowledge and consent of the Council. Which is wrong. Chiefs are the voice for their people but they aren’t accountable for their words and actions, when they should be, especially at Membership meeetings.
